Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Water is putting a hold on issuing new smart controller approvals and asking those with smart controllers be reprogrammed to restrict watering to two days per week, and only during the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. In order to avoid future drought impacts, the conditions for recertifying next year’s smart controller permits may include new restrictions on days and times for smart controller watering.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has issued a statewide “drought watch” as of August 9, 2022. All residents and businesses are urged to voluntarily conserve water, as persistent hot and dry conditions impact available water supplies. If conditions do not improve, NJDEP will be forced to escalate from the current “drought watch” to “drought warning” or “drought emergency” classifications, which would implement mandatory water use restrictions statewide.
While Ridgewood Water is currently at Stage II of its water regulations, ongoing dry conditions with very little precipitation will continue to burden the system. To avoid going into further restrictions, all customers are asked to limit irrigation and comply with existing water regulations.

I only water 2 days I’m allotted – but water lawn 3x each of the 2 days. Lawn looks great! Neighbors yards not so much.
Heres a thought.
Ban automatic sprinkler operations.
If you’re too lazy put out a hose and sprinkler, too bad.
You want water to drink or water for your pesticide infused waste of time lawn?
Get your priorities straight
Screw the lawn. Look out west. War your garden and new flowers, everything is very dry. Rains coming Tuesday
People it’s only grass. I was driving around today in the lawns and someone must be watering tremendously amount, because the grass is green as it can be, and they had some little stupid sign saying private( well, ) and yet I typed in their home address and they are on the roster for the water bill. Someone’s full of baloney . You’re nailed.
