GLEN ROCK — The effort across the board was stunning each time a member of Ridgewood’s Graydon swim team dove into the Glen Rock pool during the Lake League Championships last week.

“All our kids are great,” Graydon coach Barbara Farrell said afterward. “They all swim as hard as they can whenever they can, and they’re all great kids.”
Wyckoff had won the title the previous three years, yet was not the overwhelming favorite in the five-team Lake League championship meet on July 30, since Graydon had prevailed in the teams’ regular-season head-to-head meet.
The Ridgewood contingent issued a stern challenge before Wyckoff came out the winner, yet it was a scant eight points that separated them. The gritty Graydonites finished a close second, ahead of Glen Rock, Fair Lawn and Radburn.
