Ridgewood NJ, once again we have a garbage problem at Van Neste Square . On Thursday of last week park goers found the park littered and the garbage cans overflowing.

We also wondered , what happened to the new squirrel proof garbage cans that were purchased at great cost and much fanfare ?

  1. some people are animals.

    1. Picking up trash is someone else’s job.

  2. Winograd screwed up again. Garbage cans she wanted are too small.

  3. The very costly garbage cans that WINOGRAD championed are, like her, a massive FAIL

  4. Pigs!

  5. Siobhan can fix it. She’s the Village guru of trash cans.

    1. If the can is full, just put the trash in your handbag and carry it to the next squirrel free trash can.

  6. Obviously, as we know, these cans are not working. Number two maybe the cans need to be emptied every day number three don’t we have employees cleaning up throughout the CBD, maybe we need to bring in clinker days to clean on weekends that makes sense because Friday night Saturday, Saturday night Sunday are the busiest times throughout the village. You can just clean up Friday morning to be clean all through the weekend till Monday, it’s not working you need weekend employment, just like the CBD should be swept on Saturdays and Sundays,

    1. Its PARKS Dept. job to maintain ALL VOR parks. Either Parks Dept. devises an “rotating on call schedule”, for weekend clean up, OR they need to hire more employees that are much needed for parks and tree maintenance.

      1. They can’t hire anymore people because Ridgewood is broke. Mayor Paul is misusing all the money on his pet projects and to hire his friends.

        1. Maybe better leadership is needed in the parks dept. they are too busy doing favors for the tenant at habernickle

      2. Parks department is so mis run. It’s a joke. Need new blood

    2. Maybe people can take their garbage to another garbage can or off site when the garbage cans are full…. If they are not too entitled.

      1. why? to offset poor management….hold them accountable

  7. Damn squirrels !

  8. Looks like poor management again from the parks department

  9. Or people need to put their garbage IN the cans

  10. I guess Ridgewood doesn’t own an edger either. Nice grass…between the bricks.

    1. The grass and landscaping looks like crap.

  11. Director of parks and rec should be doing more to control this instead she is busy doing favors for her buddy at Habernickle. Can you say 370 thousand dollar pavillion as a storm shelter for camp!

    1. Yes, correct, she is busy getting all the Grant money can get from the State for anything relating to Recreation e.g. : ball parks, fields lighting, etc.
I guess Beautification type overflowing Garbage cans don’t apply to Parks and Recreation?.

Would have to send the VOR parks employee to assess the importance of the trashy situation in Ridgewood’s Van Neste Square Park.

  12. We can’t just blame whino for this. The other souless twits wanted these cans too. Pam and Paul talked about them like they were made of gold. Not sure about Evan because he mumbles, so I don’t know but the cans make look nicw but they are ineffective. $60,000.00 and They are constantly overflowing all over town and at the Park and Ridge bus depot as well. The opening is too narrow and I believe it was Pam who didn’t want rats to get into the cans, so now the rats can run about the outside bottom where the garbage is falling and being left. Go team!

  13. The park is not properly maintained and the Village Manager is a boob.

  14. There is garbage and cigarette butts everywhere. Then they wonder why the downtown area is losing customers.

  15. Keith Kazmark,
Step away from the cameras for a second. A little management goes a long way.

  16. Village Hall knows there is rat and rodent problem downtown. What are they allowing this garbage strewn everywhere to continue?

    1. “Village Hall knows there is rat and rodent problem downtown. ”

Whence do they get their “intelligence?”

  17. Isn’t the plastic liner suppose to go inside the metal receptacle? #youhadonejob

  18. Manager not managing

  19. What happened to the man that was cleaning up in the c b d . Litter pick up. Did he retire.

  20. Its not that difficult
    More so in the summer
Just hire 2-3 summer interns to handle. Inexpensive, keeps parks clean, kids get a summer job.

  21. Maybe they should invest in more garbage cans.

  22. The original batch of cans are overflowing. The Ridgewood Guild dude talked about openiing a mini NJ PAC where the old movie place was, with something like 1,000 seats, so how many garbage cans would Ridgewood need to buy to accomodate a huge influx of visitors? If we don’t have the grounds crew to maintain the fields, how are we going to have the manpower to remove mountains of garbage? Calling Mr. Kazmark?

  23. How can you expect the Village Manager to do anything but at Habernickle? Remember he was Paul’s campaign manager and owes Paul his job. ALL of his directions come from Paul and the last thing that Paul would want is for his beloved sycophant to get his hands dirty!
