HACKENSACK, NJ — A terrifying early-morning home invasion in Bergen County was cut short this past Saturday when roommates stepped in to save a woman from a violent sexual predator.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. when an intruder, identified as 36-year-old Jermin Fordyce of Hackensack, allegedly entered a residence through a bathroom window.
A Narrow Escape: The Details of the Incident
Authorities report that once inside, Fordyce targeted a sleeping woman, climbing on top of her and attempting a sexual assault. During the struggle, the assailant reportedly began strangling the victim.
However, the attack was interrupted by the woman’s roommates. When Hackensack police arrived on the scene, they found the suspect already “subdued by residents” who had jumped into action to protect their friend.
