Lodi NJ, Lodi Area Weekend Street Closing beginning September 16th. New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced that Route 17 southbound will be closed for 24 hours this weekend for a railroad crossing rehabilitation project in Lodi, Bergen County near the Hackensack University Medical Center. This is the third of three railroad crossing repair projects taking place in Lodi.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, September 16, until 7 p.m., Saturday, September 17, Route 17 southbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured between the Route 17 southbound exit ramp to Gregg Street/Lodi and the driveway to the West Marine strip mall. In addition, the ramp from Gregg Street northbound to Route 17 southbound is scheduled to be closed. These closures will allow NJDOT’s contractor, NYSW Railroad Corp., to remove the existing railroad crossing. The following detours will be in place:
Route 17 southbound detour:
• Motorists on Route 17 southbound will be directed to take the ramp to Essex Street to I-80 westbound/Saddle Brook, which is before the closure
• Turn right onto Essex Street
• Turn left onto Riverview Avenue
• Turn left to take the ramp onto I-80 eastbound
• Take Exit 64 to Route 17 southbound to Route 46 eastbound/Hasbrouck Heights/Newark
Ramp from Gregg Street northbound to Route 17 southbound detour:
• Motorists wishing to take the ramp from Gregg Street to Route 17 southbound will be directed to travel southbound on Gregg Street, away from the closed ramp, which becomes Mill Street
• Turn left onto Garibaldi Avenue, which becomes West Pleasant Avenue
• Turn right onto Route 17 southbound
