SANITATION COLLECTION IN SNOW OR ICY WEATHER

As a reminder on days when snow or ice is forecast, residents will be required to bring their garbage cans to the curb for collection. VOR staff will only pick up garbage and recycling at the curb in snow or ice conditions. Ice condition is when ice is present in driveways and sidewalks. Due to numerous slip and falls today by Sanitation staff (some requiring Hospital visits) if your driveway was not clear your garbage has not been collected and should be placed at the curb.

  1. My driveway is clear and they picked up earlier this week in the restyard. Does this reminder mean that they will not do rearyard today? Could they be more clear about it?

Could they update the website or send an email? It would not take long but it would be helpful for the residents. The website is full of notices from prior years, maybe it is time to either update them or remove then.

  2. I also think its a good idea to POST on the VIllage website if that particular day its required to be curbside if its not ‘obvious’.
“forecast’ means any day in the winter!

  3. Cans should be curbside if snow or ice is PRESENT. Not my job to watch forecasts. Today half the houses in my neighborhood have cans curbside and there’s no need. The forecast is 40 degrees. People are confused because the message is confusing. If you want cans curbside all winter then just say so. Last week I put my cans curbside and they still didn’t pick up. When they came 2 days later they left a bag behind in the can. I called but no one responded. Maybe more instructions should go to the workers instead of the residents.

  4. Let’s just go to full time curbside and we won’t have to worry about the confusing messages any longer.

  5. to # 4 it’s not going to happen this year so learn the law.

Lets not. If I wanted to live in a shithole then I’d pay property taxes commensurate with a shithole of town.
Garbage cans stay in the back yard.
