Scientist fails to answer Valley construction questions

To the Ridgewood News editor:

Last week, Ridgewood residents were expecting a scientist who would have been prepared with some kind of assessment of the hospital’s and adjacent neighborhood’s present environment. There was none offered, and, the scientist, Dr. Magari later admitted her presentation was a theoretical one. Then, when asked about who may have health effects from particulate matter from diesel/trucks/vehicles and construction debris in the proposed construction area, she said workers and hospital patients and needed emphatic prompting to add children, neighbors and senior residents, especially those unwell. She offered that workers would have personal monitors for the very dangerous particulate matter PM2.5 (or commonly called “soot”) and air monitors around the hospital perimeters to check on pollution levels. When asked about having monitors at BF she was unsure. BF and the hospital could negotiate that possibility.

  1. Yet another “expert” on the Valley payroll spewing testimony that one would have to be an idiot to believe. I sincerely hope but kind of doubt that Ms. Price and our Planning Board will see through it all.

The fact that this process is still going on is a joke. It just looks like Valley has bought off everyone in their way – the “experts” that testify, the Planning Board that allows such tripe to be allowed on the record, and, when it gets to Council, a councilwoman who doubles as a fundraiser and lobbyist for Valley. Where is the media? This story has legs.

  2. They were bought too. Look at the Valley ads in the Ridgewood News, the Record, and the Paul Patch.

  3. I hope the CRR folks saw the piece in today’s Record regarding the lawsuit a group of citizens are bringing against the town of Hawthorne, their Planning Board, etc. regarding changing the town’s current policies concerning development. Large corporations, including entities like Valley, are trying to develop in areas that they should not be, and people are getting fed up with it.

How anyone cannot see what is going on here is beyond me.

  4. It’ s on page 7 in the local news section of the Sunday Rcord.

  5. these experts from Valley are a joke. I hope the Planning board gets some impartial experts of their own.
