Dear Pascack Valley High School Students, Parents/Guardians, and Staff,

The Pascack Valley Regional High School District condemns all acts of intolerance, violence, and hate. Such expressions are detrimental to the well-being of all people, in all environments, and especially for children and educators in our schools. When hate crimes take place in our schools, we need to make sure people realize these events do not reflect our views and beliefs, are unacceptable, and will be investigated.

History and Significance of Diwali, the Festival of Lights

Ridgewood NJ, Deepawali, Deepavali, or Diwali is the biggest and the brightest of all Hindu festivals. It is the festival of lights: deep means “light” and avali “a row” to become “a row of lights.” Diwali is marked by four days of celebration, which literally illuminates the country with its brilliance and dazzles people with its joy. The Diwali festival occurs in late October or early November. It falls on the 15th day of the Hindu month of Kartik, so it varies every year. Each of the four days in the festival of Diwali is marked with a different tradition.

Ridgewood NJ, American Legion Post #53 will hold a Veterans Day Service and Wreath Laying on Sunday, November 11th at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Park at Van Neste Square.

Each year the Bergen County Historical Society raises awareness of different monuments throughout the County to raise awareness of these important sites and to remember the men and women who have served. This year join us in Ridgewood, NJ as we participate in American Legion Post #53’s Veterans Day Service on Sunday, November 11th at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Park at Van Neste Square. U.S. Attorney’s Office And Law Enforcement Partners Seize 352 Firearms In Fiscal Year 2018

Newark NJ, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced today that the District of New Jersey seized 352 firearms as part of criminal prosecutions in Fiscal Year 2018.

The District of New Jersey worked jointly with its law enforcement partners, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Marshal’s Service, and numerous agencies of the State of New Jersey.

The Superior Court of New Jersey Appellate Division found the NJDEP violated the law when it comes to radon testing

Trenton NJ, On November 2nd, The Superior Court of New Jersey Appellate Division found the NJDEP violated the law when it comes to radon testing. The court found that the DEP improperly revised rules on radon testing and mitigation oversight. The DEP made regulatory changes by holding certified measurement businesses accountable for the work of affiliates. Because New Jersey outsourced testing to over 400 people, the amount of NJ certified businesses in radon testing dropped by 200.

20th Anniversary Double Decade Award: The first male and female across the finish line who breaks the all-time course records, 15:02 in 2014 and 16:50 in 2011 respectively, wins bragging rights and an awesome prize.

Mahwah Mayor First Bergen Official in Over 25 years to be Recalled from Office

Mahwah NJ,  Mayor Bill Laforet was recalled from office on Tuesday night. The defeat for Laforet who twice won reelection was spearheaded by a local group called MahwahStrong.
The Mahwah mayor will become the first public official in Bergen County to be recalled in over 25 years.

NJEA and REA Endorse Ethically Challenged Bob Menendez for U.S. Senate

Ridgewood NJ, back in August the New Jersey Teachers Union (NJEA) along with Ridgewood’s REA endorsed  the ethically challenged Bob Menendez ,

According to a Senate Ethics Committee report, Senator Bob Menendez broke federal law and completely abused his position as senator when he should have been serving the people,” U.S. Senator Bob Menendez received a strongly-worded bipartisan admonition from his Capitol Hill colleagues on the ethics committee.

Even more ironic is that the NJEA along with Ridgewood’s REA endorsed Senator Menendez after allegations that the Senator flew to Dominican Republic. to have sex with under age prostitutes .

Total of 28 adenovirus cases at Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation

Haskell NJ, Laboratory tests have confirmed another medically fragile child with adenovirus as part of an ongoing outbreak investigation at the Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Haskell.

To date, a total of 28 confirmed pediatric cases have been associated with this outbreak. In addition, a staff member at the facility — who has since recovered — also became ill as part of the outbreak. There have been 10 deaths associated with this outbreak.
