Donald Trump is steamrolling the competition in the fight for the Republican presidential nomination.
On Tuesday, a second national poll conducted in the wake of the first GOP debate found Trump with a double-digit lead over the next closest contender.

Trump is not just attacking his rivals, he’s seeking to embarrass them, and he’s having fun doing it.
The businessman and reality TV star is also shaping the policy discussion, forcing other contenders to weigh-in on the far-right proposals in his immigration plan.
When Trump’s rise first began to register in the polls in early July, his ascendance was met with mild bemusement and the near-universal belief among Republicans that the he was a temporary, media-driven phenomenon likely to burn out by the end of summer.
Now, Republicans wonder how far he can go.
“Can he win? He sure can win,” said former Iowa Republican Party political director Craig Robinson. “He’s running roughshod over the rest of this field because the other candidates have allowed him to. This is a high stakes poker game and you have a guy playing aggressively, owning the table and dictating how everyone else moves.”
Two new national polls show Trump increasing his lead over the GOP field.
A Fox News survey released over the weekend showed Trump with a more than two-to-one lead nationally over Ben Carson, who placed a distant second.
Meanwhile, a CNN/ORC survey released Tuesday showed Trump’s lead spiking to double-digits after the same survey from late July showed him leading Jeb Bush by only 3 points. He has had double-digit leads in nine of 13 national polls since mid-July.
In Iowa and New Hampshire, Trump has led in every poll since late July.

The IT company Hilary Clinton chose to maintain her private email account was run from a loft apartment and its servers were housed in the bathroom closet, Daily Mail Online can reveal.
Daily Mail Online tracked down ex-employees of Platte River Networks in Denver, Colorado, who revealed the outfit’s strong links to the Democratic Party but expressed shock that the 2016 presidential candidate chose the small private company for such a sensitive job.
One, Tera Dadiotis, called it ‘a mom and pop shop’ which was an excellent place to work, but hardly seemed likely to be used to secure state secrets. And Tom Welch, who helped found the company, confirmed the servers were in a bathroom closet.
It can also be disclosed that the small number of employees who were aware of the Clinton contract were told to keep it secret.
The way in which Clinton came to contract a company described as a ‘mom and pop’ operation remains unclear.
However Daily Mail Online has established a series of connections between the firm and the Democratic Party.

NHTSA urges bicyclists and motorists to coexist on roadways with a ‘Safety First’ FocusWASHINGTON – With good weather heralding the start of the summer bicycling season, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is reminding bicyclists and motorists alike to share responsibility for roadway safety. This includes respecting each other’s rights and obeying traffic laws when on streets or roads.
“We encourage bicycling as a great way to get to work, get in shape or just have fun, and encourage a ‘safety first’ mentality for all who share America’s roads,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. “Whether it’s drivers who keep an eye out for cyclists, or cyclists who wear a helmet and follow the rules of the road, putting safety first will save lives and reduce injuries for everyone.”
NHTSA statistics show that in 2012, 726 bicyclists were killed and an additional 49,000 were injured in motor vehicle traffic crashes, an increase of 6 percent from 2011 (682). The average age of bicyclists killed in traffic crashes was 43. The vast majority of these deaths occurred in urban areas (69 percent) and at non-intersections (60 percent) and involved mostly male riders (88 percent). About half of these fatalities (48 percent) occurred from 4:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
“Our agency is committed to increasing safe riding behaviors among bicyclists, and heightening awareness and personal responsibility among motorists and others about safely sharing the road with bicyclists,” said NHTSA Acting Administrator David Friedman. “All cyclists should always wear their helmets, as it is the most effective way to prevent head injury in a crash.”
This safety message is being kicked off as the agency joins the League of American Bicyclists and other bicycle advocacy groups and highway safety organizations across the country in celebrating May as National Bike Month.
NHTSA offers bicyclists the following “safety first” tips:
Wear a properly-fitted helmet that meets Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) standards.
Check your bike before heading out: check all equipment and parts for proper fit and function, including tires, brakes, handlebars and seats.
Ride as a vehicle on the road; always travel in the same direction as traffic.
Obey traffic signs, signals and lane markings; signal all turns; and follow local laws.
Be predictable by riding in a straight line and use hand signals at every lane change or turn. Look ahead for traffic and obstacles.
Be visible: wear bright colors, reflective materials and lights on your bicycle at night.
Ride focused and alert: don’t use electronic devices, and never ride impaired by alcohol or drugs.
Drivers of motor vehicles must share the road with bicyclists:
Respect designated bicycle lanes.
Allow at least three feet clearance when passing a bicyclist on the road.
Look for cyclists before opening a car door or pulling out from a parking space.
Yield to cyclists at intersections and as directed by signs and signals.
Look for cyclists when making turns, either left or right.
Never drive distracted or impaired. Always buckle up.

The RBSA will hold a victory celebration for the U14 Ridgewood Junior League All Star team, winners of the Junior Little League East Region Championship. The team is competing the week of August 16-23 in the Junior League Baseball World Series in Taylor, Michigan. There will be a welcome home celebration taking place on Monday, August 24 between 2-4pm at Van Neste Park in the Village of Ridgewood. The team will have a police escort down East Ridgewood Avenue to the park, where they will be greeted by Mayor Paul Aronsohn, the Town Council and town residents to commemorate their accomplishments.

On April 21, Nader Saadeh’s distraught mother begged her 20-year-old son, who was an ocean away, not to join the militant Islamic State.
“Do not go anywhere if u love me dont kill your mom,” Nadira Saif wrote in an email in Arabic translated by the FBI. “Dont kill my smile[.] i want be happy all the time do not leave me do not go to them!”
The email is included in one of five criminal complaints that form a detailed, emotional narrative, in which federal authorities allege that the Fort Lee High School graduate, his older brother Alaa and three acquaintances slid into an obsession with the Islamic State, its theology and its violence.
Detained for months in Jordan and arraigned in federal court in Newark last Monday, Nader Saadeh is portrayed by the FBI as a key figure in a plot that allegedly involved bomb-making attempts and aspirations to join and fight with Sunni Muslim militants of the Islamic State, or ISIS.
According to the FBI and a family friend who informed on him, Nader Saadeh was making plans to join the Islamic State, looking up plane flights and viewing Islamic State propaganda online. The case against him is based on testimony of three unidentified informers as well as video, audio and digital surveillance, and statements made by his brother, Alaa.
The brothers’ father, Khaled Saadeh, denies that his sons had any involvement with ISIS. If they had, he said, he would have turned them in himself.
The hot weather and limited rainfall has led to a big increase in water use for irrigating. At the same time, the rainfall and groundwater status as monitored by NJDEP has recently been downgraded from “near normal” to “moderately dry.” Stage I restrictions have not moderated the water demand enough to maintain reserves for firefighting and other emergencies, so Ridgewood Water is implementing Stage II restrictions. The National Security Agency’s ability to spy on vast quantities of Internet traffic passing through the United States has relied on its extraordinary, decades-long partnership with a single company: the telecom giant AT&T.
While it has been long known that American telecommunications companies worked closely with the spy agency, newly disclosed N.S.A. documents show that the relationship with AT&T has been considered unique and especially productive. One document described it as “highly collaborative,” while another lauded the company’s “extreme willingness to help.”
AT&T’s cooperation has involved a broad range of classified activities, according to the documents, which date from 2003 to 2013. AT&T has given the N.S.A. access, through several methods covered under different legal rules, to billions of emails as they have flowed across its domestic networks. It provided technical assistance in carrying out a secret court order permitting the wiretapping of all Internet communications at the United Nations headquarters, a customer of AT&T.

In the wake of the recent and ongoing Planned Parenthood scandal regarding the harvesting and sale of baby hearts, livers, lungs, and other organs, late last week a group of black pastors requested that a bust of Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, be removed from a temporary Smithsonian exhibit named, ironically, “Struggle for Justice.”
The pastors are deeply offended at Sanger’s inclusion in the program because of her direct ties to eugenics and overall disdain for African-Americans.
Until now, many Americans have trustingly assumed that Planned Parenthood is a benevolent health care provider, but after watching the horrific videos, complete with senior employees’ casual disrespect for human life and dignity, the public is beginning to ask more probing questions about Planned Parenthood’s founding, mission, and ongoing work.
In doing so, they will likely learn very disturbing information about Sanger’s view of black Americans and how that influenced the founding of Planned Parenthood of America, the nation’s largest abortion provider.

In 1921, Margaret Sanger founded the American Birth Control League, which in 1942 underwent a name change to become Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
Many of the group’s founding directors were actively involved in the “eugenics” movement, which held that certain classes or colors of people were “lesser” and “unfit” for humanity and shockingly should be eliminated. Included in these targeted “unfit” groups were black Americans (another group included was people with disabilities).
In addition to eugenics involvement, one founding director, Dr. Lothrup Stoddard, wrote a book, “Rising Tide of Color against White Supremacy.”
Perhaps the hardest fact to take in is that under Margaret Sanger’s leadership, the organization created a program called the “Negro Project,” which involved strategically seeking to decrease the black population by convincing black community leaders to introduce birth control to their networks.
About the project, Margaret Sanger was once quoted as saying, “We do not want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten that idea out if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”
She also spoke at Ku Klux Klan meetings.
Fast-forwarding to 2015, sadly, today, black Americans are aborted at a highly disproportionate rate.
Making up only 13 percent of the population, this group makes up a staggering 36 percent of the nation’s abortions.
In certain areas such as New York City, a black baby is more likely to be aborted than carried to term.
In the words of the pastors:
Perhaps the gallery is unaware that Ms. Sanger supported black eugenics, a racist attitude toward black and other minority babies; an elitist attitude toward those she regarded as ‘the feeble minded;’ speaking at rallies of Ku Klux Klan women….Also the notorious ‘Negro Project’ which sought to limit, if not eliminate, black births, was her brainchild. Despite these well documented facts of history, her bust sits proudly in your gallery as a hero of justice.
As the undercover videos continue to be made public one after the other, it is likely that Americans will continue to discover many unseemly truths about Planned Parenthood’s origins

Local’ residents deserve a say on Schedler property

“Go West, young man,” a phrase made famous by Horace Greeley, could have certainly been directed at families moving to the Village of Ridgewood. This young man decided to go east in this beautiful community and raise a family. He has stayed for over 30 years, and now after all this time is wondering whether west would have been the smarter and wiser choice for his family’s future.
My wife, Michele, and I have spent most of our adult lives bringing up two children, supporting the excellent school system, participating in community events, and the excellent sports programs. Living on the east side of Ridgewood came with some issues that we have accepted and lived with over these 30-plus years: No local grammar school for our children to attend, no local park for our children to play in, and being treated at times by this town as the forgotten community but always being told by the Village Council that this was not true but a figment of our imagination.
Finally, we are given the chance to have something that could prove very positive for this east side community, the purchase of the Schedler property. My wife and I were very active early in getting the local community and Village of Ridgewood interested in securing this property. We expected and were led to believe by the Village Council that we, the local residents, would have a major and important say on how this property was developed, similar to the way the Habernickel property on the west side was developed.
Now, we were told at the Aug. 5 meeting of the Mayor and Council that they are submitting a recommendation to approve the Open Space Committee October 2012 recommendations, which includes the most controversial issue, a 90-foot baseball field on the Schedler site. The same 90-foot baseball field other Ridgewood communities did not want. It was considered for Pleasant Park but that idea appears to have been killed, and it was not built on the larger, 10-acre Habernickel property on the west side of Ridgewood because the local community preferred a smaller Little League field.
Because of this lack of concern by members of the Village Council toward the east side, this is where they have decided to definitely build this 90-foot field. It appears the plan all along was to destroy the historic Schedler house to make room for this field.
This comes, even after our east side community secured $45,000 (50 percent) of the funds necessary to save this historic house. We have always been willing to compromise except for the issue of destroying the Schedler house and building a 90-foot field. Everything else was on the table, and we were led to believe by the current administration that our proposals were being seriously considered and open to further debate and discussion.
We were misled and will soon know if the east side Ridgewood community will again be treated as second class citizens and not heard from again.
The two “top secret” emails under review from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private server include discussion of an article about a U.S. drone operation, the Associated Press reported Friday.
While the U.S. drone program has been widely reported on, the article references classified information and a Clinton adviser follows up “in a way that could possibly be inferred as confirmation,” the AP said, citing intelligence officials.
Officials offered the AP different accounts of the second email, saying it could improperly acknowledge classified information or merely show that different individuals separately got the same information.
Clinton, now a Democratic presidential candidate, earlier this week said her aides were handing over her private email server and a backup thumb drive to the Justice Department.
That news came hours after Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) sent a memo to a handful of lawmakers confirming that the Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community found four “highly classified” emails out of a batch of 40.

It’s the tunnel that everyone agrees is necessary and no one wants to pay for.
This week, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer of New York became the latest person to step into the fray, saying a new rail tunnel under the Hudson River should be built by a non-profit development corporation established specifically to tap every available pot of federal, state and regional money.
“We’ll only get Gateway done by adding up several pieces of financing, with an eye toward getting the maximum amount possible from the federal government,” Schumer said Tuesday at a news conference, referring to the name Amtrak has given a nascent plan for a new two-track tunnel.
But pursuing that financing requires promises from Governor Christie, a Republican presidential candidate who canceled a previous tunnel project, and Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York, who does not even want to meet to discuss it.
And until they are on the same page, any chance of persuading a Republican-led Congress focused on spending cuts to get behind a project as big as Gateway is a heavy lift indeed.
Still, Christie, Cuomo, U.S. Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey and nearly every transportation expert from Boston to Washington, D.C., agree with Schumer that work should begin immediately to build a new train tunnel, which would supplement the existing, century-old one that is beginning to fail.
Outsiders who have never before held political office are dominating the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
Donald Trump is the GOP front-runner, while businesswoman Carly Fiorina is surging after a strong performance in last week’s debate.
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is also showing strength, and is a candidate to watch in the Iowa caucuses, where he is outperforming former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
Conservatives are thrilled with the developments.
“This is a paradigm shift,” conservative Iowa radio host Steve Deace told The Hill. “The base of the party is in open revolt. We’re watching a political party dissolve. It’s a civil war and the GOP as it’s constructed may not survive.”
Others think Republican voters will eventually coalesce around a more traditional GOP candidate — perhaps Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker or Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).
They believe Trump’s rise is a product of his celebrity and a media frenzy that will ultimately fizzle. They doubt that Carson and Fiorina will be able to compete in the fundraising fight, or pull together the political operation to make a deep run through the primaries.
But for now, the anti-establishment wing of the GOP is on the upswing.
