Regarding “Bag the lunches” (Editorials, Jan. 22):
I cannot help questioning the motives of the Ridgewood schools superintendent and also ask the editors if any of them really cares or knows anything about the security of our schools.

Security for/from what exactly? Crime rates are the lowest they ever been in the history of the nation. There have been few, if any, problems in the past 4-5 decades of Ridgewood having an open campus and visits from parents.
Parents should be able to stop by the school without going through a gauntlet of security. That is what actually creates security for our kids. Knowing parents are around helps keep kids behaving and helps create community.
Lets not throw out all these incredibly important benefits because of what we see on 24 hour news channels. Statistics and probability should govern our decisions, not fear and hysteria.
That’s horsespit…there’s always somebody at that desk…in fact it’s a pain in the arse having to sign in when all I want to do is drop off lunch for my forgetful senior…..
#2 let your little baby senior go without one or two times then maybe he or she will no longer forget. As for #1 it is better to have some security then none at all.
OK Ayal….what exactly is the conspiracy you are alluding to when you “question the motives” of The Superintendent?
… tired of dealing with the bs of lunch deliveries… let’s cancel them and hide behind the skirts of “security”
or couldn’t you figure that out on your own?
Back to lunch service? Get the delivery people out of the fire lane and pack a lunch, buy lunch or walk to Wilkes. There are options.
And a lot of those kids could benefit from skipping a meal, the bagel sandwiches are not helping.
Teach them responsibility and have them make lunch, they are in high school for God’s sake.
#6 you are correct.
However, that does not negate the fact that the admin is hiding behind “security” to dispatch with the nuisance of lunch deliveries.
Cowardly and dishonest
and sadly not surprising.
#7 you are correct. You will have no trouble in if you can your family always color and stay within the lines.
