Englewood Cliffs NJ, a self-inflicted gunshot wound caused a serious car crash on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs on Monday evening, according to the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department.

Crash Details

🚔 At 5:41 p.m., authorities responded to a collision involving a 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and a 2022 Infiniti QX6 on the Palisades Interstate Parkway.

  • The driver of the Jeep, a 29-year-old Brooklyn man, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound while traveling southbound.
  • The vehicle then crossed the median into northbound traffic, colliding with the Infiniti, which was driven by a 45-year-old man from Nanuet, New York.
  • The Infiniti driver was not injured, police confirmed.

Gun & Evidence Found Inside the Vehicle

🔍 Inside the Jeep, police discovered:

  • A 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun
  • A spent shell casing on the floorboard

Authorities confirmed that the gunshot wound caused the driver to lose control, leading to the crossover crash into the guardrail and Infiniti.

Pit Bull Rescued from the Jeep

🐶 A pit bull was found uninjured inside the Jeep and was safely turned over to Bergen County Animal Control.

Ongoing Investigation

🚨 The Palisades Interstate Parkway Police and Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office are continuing their investigation into the incident.
