Hasbrouck Heights NJ, around 6:30 PM on Tuesday evening, Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department responded to a serious four-vehicle accident at Route 46 and Collins, with reports of multiple people entrapped and injured. Chiefs 60, 61, and 62, along with Squad 1, Engine 2, and Engine 3, were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the first responding chief confirmed the entrapment and issued a 10-30, signaling the need for immediate rescue efforts. The crew from Squad 1 quickly went to work, extricating two individuals trapped in one of the vehicles. Due to the complexity and severity of the situation, additional assistance was requested, and Wood-Ridge Fire Department Rescue arrived to help remove the entrapped victims.
Both individuals were treated by EMS on-site for their injuries before being transported for further medical care.
The crash resulted in the shutdown of all westbound lanes of Route 46 near Summit Avenue for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation. According to the New Jersey Department of Transportation, all lanes were reopened before 10 PM.
