TEANECK, NJ — A serious two-vehicle crash on Route 4 East during the evening rush hour on June 16 has prompted an ongoing investigation by local and county authorities.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the collision occurred shortly after 5 p.m. near Phelps Road, involving a jitney-style passenger bus and another vehicle. The crash caused multiple injuries, some of which are believed to be serious.
🚨 Multiple Injuries and Major Traffic Delays
Jeff Angermeyer, Deputy Chief of Detectives with the Prosecutor’s Office, reported that several individuals were injured and transported to local hospitals for treatment. The conditions of those injured have not yet been disclosed, but authorities noted the injuries ranged in severity.
🚔 Investigation Ongoing by Multiple Agencies
The incident prompted an immediate response from the Teaneck Police Department, Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bergen County Fatal Accident Investigation Task Force.
The crash remains under active investigation under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck of the Prosecutor’s Office and Sheriff Anthony Cureton and Chief Carmelo Giustra of the Sheriff’s Office.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation’s 511nj.org reported significant traffic delays in both directions near Teaneck Road on Route 4 as emergency responders worked at the scene. Authorities are urging motorists to avoid the area while the investigation continues and cleanup efforts are underway.
