Ridgewood NJ, yep. a taxpayer’s simple question about the distance between planned restroom facilities and the nearest single-family homes near Schedler Park was met with that sarcastic, arrogant, rude, and uncalled for response from Ridgewood Councilperson Siobhan Winograd. It happened during Wednesday night’s Village Council Work Session.
In our opinion, the appropriate response from Ms. Winograd should have been: “I’m sorry that you’re having difficulty interpreting the official document we provided. I will arrange for a member of our Engineering Department staff to assist you.” But instead, a taxpayer was publicly humiliated by an elected official. How [not] nice.
AND, adding insult to injury, Ms. Winograd’s response was hotly defended by Ridgewood Mayor Paul Vagianos and other members of the Village Council. Claiming that literally “hundreds” of questions about Schedler have already been addressed [Does an established limit exist on the number of questions that can be asked?], and that Ms. Winograd has been the recipient of many “offensive” comments [for good reason], the Mayor and others on the dais stood in solidarity with their comrade.
Enough is enough! If you can’t take the heat, don’t jump into the fire. Sometimes serving the public is a difficult task. Ms. Winograd herself publicly criticized the Knudsen administration frequently. Now she’s on the receiving end. Turnabout is fair play. Suck it up Siobhan.

This mayor and council must think we are very stupid. They continue saying and doing whatever they would like. Every time we bring up the question regarding the contaminated soil and multiple locations throughout the village, they look at us like we’re troublemakers. But meanwhile, the individuals that were in charge Should be prosecuted. Because if it was your eye, we would be prosecuted, fired, brought up on charges. This is just amazing. And what is really amazing. The village never reached out to the employees that could be possibly infected with contaminated soil. Everyone knows exactly what was in that soil. And it could affect many individuals different way. They just don’t care. But yet they love spending everyone’s money in town. Shoot they spent money that we don’t even have. How about spending some time and effort and send the employees and residence that worked at those Locations to be tested and screened. They should be ashamed of themselves. this matter is not going away anytime soon.☠️
Her response proved that she didn’t know and didn’t take the library course. She might have said approximately 100 feet, 200 feet but she just revealed that she is not familiar with any details of the plan.

People you notice in the past 15 years where do they find these odd individuals, it doesn’t matter if you’re the mayor, the council the village manager a few directors a few supervisors in the town, you have a notice. Some of them are an odd bunch. Where do they breathe this individuals. Is it in the water, are they handpicked from a specialty pot. Because some of these individuals are just weird, and they’re thinking is way out there. It’s actually quite amazing. None of them are leaders at all. Some of them are just shoot from the hip, the rest of them are puppets, yeah, we know someone’s gonna put thumbs down because they’re so sensitive.

She is a prime example of virtue signaling but does not seem to be able to actually embrace the values she talks about being important or in support of. It is obvious in her actions. I’ve heard horror stories about how she has treated people who fall into almost every category. Sure she’s got her favorites, but overall she is a disgraceful example of how an elected official should behave. Siobohn Winograd was extremely rude and demanding of former Mayor Susan Knudson bsck in the day but Vagianos must have forgotten all of that. His leaping to her defense signaling that she’s is some damsel in distress is completely laughable and overly dramatic. He had a memory lapse from she was a frustrated member of the public coming in hot at meetings. This time it definitely seemed when questioned that she was not about to answer the question about the distance of public bathrooms to property lines and was intentionally being divisive, extremely condescending and not in any way helpful. She was playing a game and making a joke at this person’s expense. Not nice.
This is a calculated planned approach, don’t kid yourself. This council is laser focused to spend everyone’s money on this project when it is a calculated attempt to enhance the sports organizations for program expansion. This is why Vagianos was “hired” along with Weitz, Whinograd and Mortimer. Are back room deals involved? Probably done and dusted long ago. The fact that council person Whinograd will not answer questions about how close a public bathroom is to houses is entirely politically motivated with Vagianos steering the ship. Whino might be crazy, in my opinion, but she’s crazy like a fox. Everything she says is intentionally manufactured in advance. It is her story and she is sticking to it.

Winograd believes it is important for all residents to know how to operate their phone, zoom in on a map and fully understand basic web functionality, and she would be more than happy to take people to the library so that residents can take a class and answer their own technical questions (to stop bothering the council)?
The taxpayers of the village should demand one big sweep, right from the top going down, because the same things are occurring over and over again. How can they condone what’s going on. The only way to fix the problem is to have all new management. With experience. None of this training on the job. This place is a joke one big embarrassment. At one time the village was the leaders around here, not anymore. There are no more heroes, no more bad in the back, no more that a boy, it’s just not worth it. That’s what I hear. Just calm do whatever we have to do and go home. Because you’re not going anywhere. You’re not gonna get anything. Those days are done. Welcome to the new village.🚽
