Ridgewood NJ, Neighbor, please help and share! The destruction of approximately 250+ trees left fellow residents and their homes exposed to Route 17 and hazardous elements.

It is a violation of State and Village Code to remove a mandated buffer. In utter disregard of residents, the laws of this state and municipal land use approvals, the owners unilaterally truncated the required buffer (as seen in picture).

On 5/17/18, 4:30pm, this matter will be heard at Ridgewood Municpal Court (the public can attend). Please sign this online petition asking the Village of Ridgewood to fully enforce code and order full restoration of the required buffer. You can also print a copy of the online letter and PM me for pickup or mailing address.

  1. My new neighbor did this recently, to my horror. Now I have to look at their ugly house. I wish I had thought of calling the town while it was happening so that they would at least have been fined under the new ordinance, but I didn’t think of it. The man who tends to my trees did, but it was too late.

  2. We simply must enforce the laws we have on the books. Some residents have been working tirelessly for years to get remediation/ relief fo no avail. In numbers we can be successful.

  3. Why would people cut so many trees down for all of us to see the highway and hear it. I’ll be that damn stupid Do you ever do that. The noise what jerks.

  4. 6:23 well said. Our laws are only good when enforced. I’ve driven by this site for awhile, on my way to work. I can assure you the Village sat and did nothing. Hope the Village finally does the right thing.

  5. This is criminal in my opinion. What kind of an animal would do such thing? I wish the ordinance for not cutting trees under over 8″ in diameter withstood the times.

  6. This is a travesty

  7. I signed the petition today.

  8. They did the same clear-cutting for Carriage Lane off Racetrack Road. Used to be many old trees at that lot before developers decided to build it up!

  9. II signed

  10. Susan and Mike. Re-start here…let the judge know the laws need to be followed!!

  11. I believe this falls under the Village Engineer Dept., who usually does nothing. Let’s see if he finally does his job and Protects residents. Let’s see if his boss, Heather Mailander, again looks the other way.
