Sony to release ‘The Interview’ after all

Sony Pictures has approved Christmas Day screenings of “The Interview,” reversing course after it came under fire for its decision to pull the film from theaters.

Several independent film theaters said they have received approval from Sony show the film on Thursday.

The comedy, about a plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, was pulled last week after cyberattackers threatened terrorist attacks on any theater that screened the film. President Obama criticized the decision, saying the company had “made a mistake.”

The Dallas Morning News confirmed with Sony the announcements made on Twitter by the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, a small theater chain based in Austin, Texas, and the PlazaTheatre, an independent theater in Atlanta.
