St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations, Leave the Driving to NJ TRANSIT

Ridgewood NJ, want to go green for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations? Leave the driving to NJ TRANSIT and help the environment! NJ TRANSIT is ready for the season of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations around the region over the coming weeks including the New York City parade and festivities in Belmar and Pearl River.

 

On Saturday, March 1, NJ TRANSIT will provide additional service on the Montclair-Boonton rail line for festivities in Hoboken.  The enhanced service will provide hourly service from Bay St. (Montclair) to Hoboken in the morning from approximately 9:00 a.m. until approximately 1:00 p.m.  The enhanced service will also provide hourly service in the afternoon departing Hoboken to Bay St. (Montclair) from approximately 4:00 p.m. until approximately 9:00 p.m.  Full details are available HERE. On Sunday, March 2, NJ TRANSIT will accommodate the anticipated larger volumes of customers for the Belmar St. Patrick’s Day Parade by enhancing service on the North Jersey Coast Line with hourly shuttle trains between Long Branch and Bay Head. Customer service ambassadors will be at Long Branch and Belmar stations to assist customers.  Complete details can be viewed HERE.  Complete schedule information can be viewed HERE.

On Monday, March 17, trains and buses will operate on a regular weekday schedule for the New York City parade with additional service provided from New York State stations on the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines (in cooperation with Metro-North Railroad). Light Rail systems will operate on their normal weekday schedules. Customer service ambassadors will be at Penn Station New York, Secaucus, Aberdeen-Matawan and Middletown, NJ stations to assist customers.

NJ TRANSIT will also enhance rail capacity on the Pascack Valley Line (PVL) on Sunday, March 23, to/from the parade in Pearl River.

IMPORTANT NOTE: For these special events, customers are advised that NO BEVERAGES, INCLUDING ALCOHOL – OPEN OR CLOSED – WILL BE PERMITTED on any train, bus, or platform the entire weekend of March 1 and 2 to accommodate festivities in Hoboken and Belmar; the weekend of March 8 and 9 for festivities in Atlantic City and Asbury Park, Saturday, March 15 for festivities in Morristown, Sunday, March 16 for the parade in South Amboy and Monday, March 17 for the  New York City parade as well as Sunday, March 23 for festivities in Pearl River. This policy will be strictly enforced. 

On these dates, customers may see an increased presence of New Jersey Transit Police across the transit system.
