Ridgefield NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of GERALD T. BENNETT (DOB: 7/16/1988; single; unemployed) of 1048 Levick Street, Philadelphia, PA on charges of Receiving Stolen Property, Possession Of A Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession Of A Weapon Without A Lawful Purpose. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.
On Tuesday, October 27, 2020, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force conducted a motor vehicle stop in Ridgefield, NJ on a white 2009 Buick Enclave. That vehicle was reported stolen out of Philadelphia, PA. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, GERALD T. BENNETT, was placed under arrest without incident. BENNETT was also found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, specifically twenty-nine amphetamine-dextroamphetamine capsules not prescribed to him, as well as a switchblade knife.
GERALD T. BENNETT was charged on October 27, 2020 with one count of Receiving Stolen Property, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-7(A), a 3rd degree crime; one count of Possession Of A Controlled Dangerous Substance in violation of N.J.S.A 2C: 35-10A(1), a 3rd degree crime; and one count of Possession Of A Weapon Without A Lawful Purpose, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3E, a 4th degree crime. BENNETT was remanded to the Bergen County Jail and is scheduled for a first appearance on November 11, 2020 at 8:30 AM in the Central Municipal Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
