Storm Message form Chief John Ward
First I would like to thank our residents for demonstrating concern and compassion for the neighbors. Throughout the day I witnessed neighbors helping neighbors. We have experienced a significant snowfall thus far with another 3-6 inches anticipated by tomorrow morning, so I am making the following requests;
I would encourage those of you with snow blowers to lend a hand to your elderly and special needs neighbors.
Please check on your neighbors to be sure they are okay.
Please continue to reframe from driving unless absolutely necessary, as road conditions will continue to be dangerous.
Please do not park your vehicles on the roadway through noon tomorrow, so our plow crews can continue to clear our streets.
Please do not throw and/or push snow onto the roadways.
Further information is available of the Village of Ridgewood website www.ridgewoodnj.net
I thank you for your continued cooperation
Chief John M. Ward
“Please do not throw and/or push snow onto the roadways.” … Maybe the police chief can have a conversation with my neighbor who does this every time it snows.
And will the town clear the storm drains? Many are now completely buried under mounds of snow from the plows and with warming temperatures clear drains will help keep large puddles (mini-lakes) from forming.
#1, concerning storm drains.
Approx. 10:30 this morning, Ridgewood Fire And Rescue I believe were clearing drains hydrants around Fairfield and Meadowbrook. Not too sure both but they had shovels in their hands.
People should be reminded to remove snow and ice from the roof of their cars.
I have a question about who is responsible for shoveling the walkway over Hohokus brook on Ridgewood and Spring Aves. I would think that it is PSEG’s responsibility but I do not know.
It goes unshoveled after all these storms. You can’t walk down Ridgewood Ave from the high school on either road. If it were a homeowner they would be ticketed. This is a serious safety issue that village hall should look into.
Question. Since the garbage wasn’t picked up today and yesterday due to weather, did these employees get a paid day off or were they used to perform snow removal duties?
Answer: I think I already know the answer.
Wouldn’t want to interrupt their ‘holiday’ Monday.
Hey #5 if you think its such a good job with so many perks why don’t you apply? Or is it above the expectations set for by your parents.
I appreciate the Chief’s message. As for getting a reverse 911 from Paul ‘Mayor Vaughn’, I can’t help but wonder when he’s running for his next political post? His patronizing and snarky ‘stay safe, folks’ message was as transparent as cellophane.
I agree with #7. It is good to hear from Chief Ward, and it is appropriate. The mayor’s jack-ass phone calls, on the other hand, are just a pitiful attempt to keep getting his name out there. I am so sick of him and the way he is running this town (into the ground).
Kindly identify yourself as a laid off union lackey.
Next time I order large fries don’t eff up the order at the drive thru.
