Following a rapidly deteriorating weather forecast, local officials issued a last-minute directive officially canceling the 2026 Ridgewood Fourth of July Fireworks display.
The high-stakes decision was made jointly at 7:27 PM by the Village Manager and the Office of Emergency Management, just moments before crowds gathered for the grand finale.

Despite early adjustments to try and beat the elements, incoming bands of severe thunderstorms and lightning posed too severe a risk to ignore.
