the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood schools superintendent is expected to resign today after a 12-year tenure, Dr. Daniel Fishbein notified staff of his departure on Friday and will serve until December 10th .
The Board of Education will vote on the resignation, described on an agenda as a “resignation for the purpose of retirement,” at Monday night’s meeting.
Thanks be to God!
He will be missed.
In my opinion, Dr. Fishbein is a very competent manager and performed with great professionalism during his time with us. Any leadership position in Ridgewood is a challenge to a person’s dedication of purpose, a test of how thick one’s skin is, and a testament to how fast diplomatic and patience skills can be developed. The reaction to his departure has been less then polite, regardless of how you feel about his tenure and performance. It is easy to hide behind an anonymous mask and say things that you would never dare say face to face. In this particular circumstance, given this man’s departure after he worked hard to do a good job, educating our children while balancing teacher needs, I offer that if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Manners matter too.

He is not a good manager. He is a good politician. He survived for 12 years by playing politics. School should not be a place for politics.
Board of Ed voted 3-2 not to accept his resignation.
