Tenafly Plumber Charged With Unlawful Weapons Possession

Tenafly NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MATTHEW PANETTA (DOB: 2/04/1993; single; employed as a plumber) of Piermont Road,  Tenafly, NJ on weapon possession charges. This arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

During an investigation by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad on January 21, 2022, MATTHEW PANETTA was identified as unlawfully possessing a sawed-off shotgun. Later that same day, detectives arrested PANETTA without incident at his place of employment. A subsequent search warrant was executed at PANETTA’S residence in Tenafly.

PANETTA was charged with second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); and third degree possession of a prohibited weapon (sawed-off shotgun), N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3(b).

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
