Tenafly NJ, The Tenafly Police Department has received a great deal of attention over the last 72 hours after dash-cam video of our officers on a recent motor vehicle stop was released to the media. This incident has shed a positive light on law enforcement while highlighting some challenges that officers often face in the performance of their duties. In response to the interaction captured on video that afternoon, we have received hundreds of phone calls and emails from people all across the United States and Canada commenting on the professionalism, patience, and restraint exhibited by the officers. We are extremely proud of how our officers handled themselves and would like to thank everyone that contacted our agency in support of their actions. Your kind words of encouragement and praise are truly appreciated. We promise that as we move forward, we will continue to incorporate technology, progressive training methods, sound policies & procedures, and individual accountability in an attempt to maintain the highest standards of professionalism while serving the residents of Tenafly. Once again, we sincerely thank everyone all across the country for voicing their support of our officers and the entire law enforcement community.
This woman could not have behaved more poorly without engaging in violence against the officers involved.
Please I’m sure there’s more to the story. Who cares that she will resigned. I’m sure she pulls a lot of weight holding that position, very political, forethought he has more power than any local Town power. I’m not saying that she was wrong or right, I’m just saying we know poor authority power don’t we.

I don’t know if anyone else noticed when the full picture was shown that at least one young woman was crying. The one closest to the fender of their car. I’m sure all of our children–and ourselves when we were children–were at one point totally mortified by a parent. Just imagine how you would have felt if she were your Mom! The Officers did a magnificent job in dealing with a woman who thought she should be above any rules or laws because SHE was IMPORTANT.

Obstruction of justice by the former commissioner with a badge and business card. Luckily, the officers showed proper restraint & respect. Unless the driver was a minor, she had no business haranguing the officers.
How would anyone know why the child was crying? Maybe being stopped by the police was scary enough.
Chief Chamberlain isn’t it time you hired officers that look like the population in Tenafly? Just 2 out of 34 police officers are African American and Hispanic. This is not consistent with the population in Tenafly which is roughly 55% Caucasian 25% Asian and 20% Hispanic and African American.
Think the issue is with the civil service requirements, they are not allowed to indicate the race.
By the way do you know the same ratio’s for Ridgewood, think there might be a mis-match as well.
Race has NOTHING to do with qualifying to be a police officer ANYWHERE in the country. Just because your black, white green or blue makes NO DIFFERENCE and should have no impact in the hiring process. YOUR both racists of the worst kind simply trying for forward your agenda. Playing the race card is long a cowards way around true performance. Man up and you’ll get the job. Otherwise stand aside, we’re not putting up with your bullshit any longer.
