Ridgewood NJ, the beloved Pancake House is officially reopen! No signs yet, but they’re serving breakfast/lunch until 2:30 and a French dinner menu.

In March of 2021 , Ridgewood Icon Milan Pavlovic , owner of Country Pancake House, and Ridgewood resident passed away  and the Country Pancake House at 140 E Ridgewood Ave RidgewoodNJ 07450 was closed.

In May we reported that Sonny Singh a  62  who lives in Demarest, has been buying up Ridgewood restaurants after losing his party and bridal dress shops to the pandemic.

In the past month or so, Singh has bought Stella Artisan Italian and sister restaurant No. 12, the   nearly three-decade-old Country Pancake House on Ridgewood Avenue, which he is changing the name to  Ridgewood Diner.

  1. The main problem is not the business ,people will come .the problem is the rent was so damn high so the price of pancakes is ridiculous.

  2. French dinner menu? I can’t imagine many people flocking to a diner style restaurant for a french dinner. Give people what they want and the restaurant will be successful. Look at Iron Horse in Westwood, Matthew’s Diner and Nellie’s in Waldwick, places that are always busy, regardless of the time of day or day of the week. Will be interesting to see what happens and if the business owner is able to turn a profit.

  3. Especially when the renters have to pay extremely high rent I could imagine with the renters on Ridgewood Avenue. Remember right next-door was a cheese shop that was there for over 30 years and they had to move out because of the rent can you imagine how much she should have to sell just to pay the rent. No wonder the pancakes were 15 bucks, and the whole place needs to be remodeled inside it was getting a little bit beat up Looking.

    1. The Cheese Shop died because area supermarkets (Whole Foods and Fairway) started selling the same high-end cheeses.

      1. nope, no even close, the moved into the liquor store , long before whole foods and fairway , the service was awful, they were obnoxious and they chased away many customers

  4. I am happy to see any non-bank or chain business open and I certainly hope it lasts (as well as the Daily Treat), but I never understood the infatuation with this place. I found the pancakes terrible and the entire enterprise would was an obscene waste of food. I wonder if the pancake sizes were a normal size if it would have been such a destination. We’ll see…..

  5. I’m sure the rent must be at least 10,000 or more at that location

  6. The Cheese Shop went under once the Super Markets caught on to selling cheeses.

  7. He is laundering money. Buying up so many businesses. No resturant experience. And he lives in the Benjamin. Rents an apartment. Wake up Ridgewood. Save your village.

  8. The Beloved Ridgewood Pancake House is DEAD and GONE.

The jury is still out on what this NEW Pancake house is…

  9. Sonny Singh is NOT PAYING EMPLOYEES and it’s a sin to take advantage of hard working people who are willing to work and purposely not pay them. KHARMA will pay him what he’s worth 10 times what he stole from his employees.

  10. The French dinner will attract many. The other French restaurant LATORE down the road is always packed.

    1. “Hey honey, I want to take you out for a romantic French dinner tonight. Two choices. Latore or The Pancake House.”

  11. The Cheese shop went under because the owner was soooo obnoxious and rude. No one ever went back a second time after he insulted novices for asking questions instead of trying to educate. He wound up inside the wines store on Broad Street for a while. Is he still there?

  12. Cant these places go somewhere else ? Surely the tent is cheaper outside of Ridgewood. I miss all those different pancakes!

  13. Went there about 3 or 4 months ago with my son and didn’t know the original owner passed away. No lines at 10am that day which seemed weird. Worst part was the lady seating us by the door which I assumed would open frequently and let a cold draft on us, so I asked if we could grab a table in the back. Place was empty. First she said no, and I was adamant about not sitting near the door. She asked someone else who apparently also said no. So we sat at the table without anyone coming by for a good 10 minutes (remember, empty place) and given the time to really think this through. I’m paying for a meal and service. I wasn’t occupying anyone’s seats cause there were literally 3 tables full and mostly empty in the back. Told my son to get up and we left. Went up the block to this other place. Sat immediately (away from the door) and served just as fast with delicious food. I’m sad that the original country pancake house is gone, but that service won’t bring them any business. Especially not mine.

    1. It’s common practice to sit customers at tables near the windows and street so anyone passing by doesn’t think it’s empty

  14. Miss the old Pancake house. It was not gourmet by any means but was fun for a relatively inexpensive meal with tons of variety, especially the unique pancake selection. No other place like it around. Kids loved it and we always left full. The staff was always friendly as well.
