FBI officials said they are taking proactive measures to protect the public while also investigating the threats.
Governor Phil Murphy says that he has been in touch with the state attorney general, state Office of Homeland Security and the FBI regarding the threat.
“We are closely monitoring the situation and are working with local law enforcement to ensure that all houses of worship are protected,” the governor wrote on Twitter.
The NYPD states it is also monitoring the situation and is ready to assist if needed.
