The Hudson Street Parking Garage keeps on giving – $103K for a new street sweeper!

the staff of The Ridgewood Blog
Just when you thought you’d heard it all, Village CFO Robert G. Rooney just revealed that a $103K Kubota “mini street sweeper” will be purchased for the Hudson Street Parking Garage because neither of the Village’s existing street sweepers will fit inside the building.
This begs the question, is the Village sure that its existing fire trucks and ambulances will fit inside?
The garage that keeps on giving . . .

  1. ‘Kubota’ is Japanese for “one who is gullible’.

  3. Didn’t we tell you that this garage is going to be a problem. It just doesn’t stop. Another hundred grand in the hole. And just wait you’re not done. The people in charge need to go into New York City and see how it’s really done. They use apparatuses that sweep vacuum hold water so you can wash down debris small liquid spells if you know what I mean., pee , throw up, drink spelling, and so on . This is going to be a part-time job just doing maintenance at the site. Especially if it’s really being used. Then it will become a daily maintenance program. It’s the only way that it will function professionally.

  4. Does this really cost 103k ?
Or money is going somewhere else?

  6. What about the emergency phones that dial 911 and display the village hall address instead of the garage address….yet the IT guy still has a job.

  7. Every day this town gives me another reason to hate it.
    Sad.
Used to be a nice town with reasonable people and responsible government.

  8. This garage and all who signed off on it should be condemned. Never ever should have been built.

  9. It’s funny that they say they’re going to spend another hundred grand for a sweeper. Where are the sweepers they said they have now, The roads are filthy. They never look like this years ago. What a shame.

  11. No one should be surprised by this. Hate me for saying it if you will, but our village government is not well positioned to run a parking enterprise. I concluded that long ago after the Quarters incident; bad process and really no controls, but at least one could at last see why parking was a cost center and not a profit center for the Village after that. Private enterprise would probably not run just one garage in one relatively small town. So one sweeper would be used for multiple garages and there would be no surprise about it fitting through the entrance. Up next: we will need new town worker or extensive training session to qualify an existing worker to operate the unique controls, and maybe special maintenance too. I hope I am only joking about this.

  17. Which Ridgewood employee is getting fired over this? The answer better not be “nobody… it was a mistake”.

  18. Next flood will come from a major thunderstorm with driving winds and
Run off into the elevator shafts then bingo we rebuild the elevators wiring
Motors and controls every second year.

This is likely not just a snow risk

  19. Fires in the garage and on that block were one of the issues that the non supporters raised
Before the vote to build was railroaded on taxpayers .

Do we plan to sue the builders designers re elevator run off damages
    ??

  20. Plus we want to know who is getting paid stipends, we all like to see the list. We want to know who is getting them and what are they getting them for. And the amount should be publicized. We the taxpayers are paying for it. Oh yes

  21. “When you’re in a financial hole, stop digging.” I love this!!!!

  22. While we are talking about parkinG lots, what the hell happened to the park and ride lot on rt ‘17 , holy shit All the curbs and sidewalks are ripped up from the individual that was plowing that lot. The place is destroyed. What a mess. How did this happen. Who is in charge. This is just amazing it’s so embarrassing. The place looks like a war zone. Talk about experience.

  23. Oh that parking lot belongs in Beirut.
