Ridgewood Nj , Democratic Assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt, has proposed the bill, that would fine pedestrians who have their eyes glued to their smartphones instead of the sidewalk, according to NJ.com.

32 pedestrians in New Jersey have been killed so far in 2016, according to NJ.com. Around 10% of pedestrian injuries are due to distracted walking, a recent study found.
The Village of Ridgewood has seen it share of pedestrians accidents in the last 10 years and the state of New Jersey already has a ban on distracted driving. Critics debate weather theses times of laws do any more than ad ticket revenue to local municipalities.
Jail time? What power does this idiot statist think she has? Just let Darwinian selection take its course.
Great lets throw their kids under the bus too..police have enough power to declare this as a dangerous or harmful negligent to their accompanying kids too

When I drive pedestrians in Ridgewood put my life at risk by jaywalking and texting while walking on streets . I have to stop in the middle of street and wait for them, hoping and praying that a car behind me is paying attention and not texting while driving.
Those juggling a venti starbucks and a toy poodle get a stern clowns crossing hazard warning..
How about walking and chewing gum?

The mom and dad jaywalkers dragging 2 toddlers on foot as they make the death dash against right of way traffic even In The winter dark..rain etc from Carlos bakery on west ridgewood on that death curve across from the train side parking lot,
