Ridgewood NJ, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of its schoolhouse, the Ridgewood Historical Society will host a roaring 20’s themed gala on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the Felina in Ridgewood’s historic business district. Guests can enjoy dinner and live entertainment by the local band “Souled Out.”
Three distinguished honorees will be recognized for their dedication and commitment to preserving the history of our village and the surrounding area. They have enriched the lives of countless individuals. The honorees include Dacey Latham, Vicky Herbert, and Joy Hamburger.
Gala committee members Sarah Faranda, Catie Kearns, Martha Fickinger, Jeanne Johnson, and Gail Ghezzi are encouraging local businesses and individuals to honor this milestone by becoming a sponsor and attending the celebration. Sponsorship contributions will aid the Ridgewood Historical Society & Schoolhouse Museum in its efforts to preserve the schoolhouse, its artifacts, and the history of our community. Board of Trustee member Jeanne Johnson said: “Every donation helps us continue the many robust educational projects and presentations that engage people of all ages.”
The Ridgewood Historical Society is the parent organization of the Schoolhouse Museum. The schoolhouse was one of Ridgewood’s first public schools and is Ridgewood’s only museum. The Society’s mission is to preserve the structure and maintain, interpret, and exhibit the collection of artifacts representing the history, culture, and lives of ordinary people from the Ridgewood area from the period of Native America to the present.
