Ridgewood NJ, Several Ridgewood Police officers escorted the Village’s 2019 Christmas Tree from Oakland to the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and North Broad Street on Monday morning, 11/25. Officers also provided traffic control while workers from Downes Tree Service removed the tree from a flatbed trailer and erected it.

With the tree in place the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce can presents the 34th Downtown for the Holidays Tree Lighting Celebration and the Ridgewood 125th Anniversary Winter Fire and Lights on
Friday, December 6, 2019 open to the public 5:30-9pm.
Well the Greek must be happy.
I (including my kids) refuse to attend a phony ceremony of a beautiful dead tree when there is a live Christmas tree already at Van Neste. Shame on whoever goes on a hunt every year to get a live tree cut for the pleasure of RW crowds. This same crowd is probably one of the biggest cheerleaders of Greta and co.
Why don’t we consider planting a tree and leaving it there so we don’t have to deal with this every year. I think it will be a big cost savings.
Are they looking for volunteers to hand out hot chocolate. At the main table .
Not to mention police overtime for transporting the tree. Please, they can use traffic control that certified.

Great.
.
We won’t miss you.
.
We’ll have a great time without you.

This is just totally ridiculous every year we have to worry about someone donating a tree. Getting a Tree company to do all this. Even though I’m sure the tree company donates his equipment in time but in the end Ridgewood’s playing dirty cards you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours right. End of story
All played out .
Your all a bunch of tree hugging assholes who haven’t a clue as to how this process works. Downes Tree Service donates their services as others donate their trees. Some that were planted and grown specifically for this annual event. Hundreds of people come to the CBD and have a grand evening. And if you PC schmucks think your going to change this tradition you are sorely mistaken.
And try checking the facts first before you get your Birkenstock’s all wadded up in a ball.

I am probably the biggest environmentalist in town.
It is a beautiful wonderful tradition to have a live Christmas tree in Ridgewood. Whether it is donated or comes from a Christmas tree farm.
It is large scale developments, destroying open space, like Schedler 7 acres and up, that destroys trees to the detriment of life.
But since I am such a big ass environmentalist; I drive an OLD SEDAN to prove it. And my old car meets CALIFORNIA EMMISSION STANDARDS.
And the NYT of Nov 27, headlines reads: “U.N. Report Says Rise in Emissions Is Still Alarming” The article sites SUVS as being one of the major causes. So those who claim to be so tree huggin and environmental ; I’ll bet my last dollar that you drive an SUV and bigger.
In today’s, Dec. 1, New York Times there is a whole section on Streaming Media. Why don’t you phony environmental people just stare at streaming programs every minute for the rest of your lives and shut-up. You would do the world a favor. (What I just wrote was brilliant; a punishment to force what should be considered a crime, like a phony environmentalist to binge watch streaming for the rest of their lives.) Idea worthy of Joe Hill or Stephen King or the United States penal system.
