Englewood NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JAMAL ROBINSON (DOB: 03/18/1976; single; unemployed) of 360 Liberty Road, Englewood, NJ on charges of Unlawful Possession Of A Handgun, A Certain Person Not To Possess Handgun, and Possession Of A Large Capacity Ammunition Magazine; and DEIDRE A. ADEBIYI (DOB: 12/05/1977; single; nurse) of 104 Reade Street, Englewood, NJ on charges of Possession Of A Large Capacity Ammunition Magazine. The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton, and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Lawrence Suffern.
On Saturday, June 20, 2020, at approximately 1:11 a.m., the Englewood Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the vicinity of the intersection of 2nd Street and 4th Street. Responding officers found multiple individuals in the roadway who had attended a gathering at a residence on 2nd Street. Officers also found two gunshot victims lying in the roadway: 29-year-old Alex Glover of Englewood and 43-year-old Douglas Perry of Newark. Both victims were transported to area hospitals. Perry succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased, and Glover was later released from the hospital. Multiple shell casings were located at the scene of the shooting, and multiple vehicles and a residence were struck with projectiles.
As a result of an investigation, detectives identified DEJUAN STOKES, DWAYNE REDD, JR., and JAMAL ROBINSON as actors in the shooting. On Friday, July 24, 2020, STOKES, REDD, JR., and ROBINSON were each charged with multiple crimes, including Murder. STOKES was arrested and remanded to the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center in Baltimore, MD pending extradition. ROBINSON was arrested and remanded to the Bergen County Jail.
On Saturday, July 25, 2020, a search warrant was executed at 125 Shepard Avenue, Apartment A, Teaneck, NJ by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the Englewood Police Department. During the search, officers recovered a Glock 22 40-caliber handgun containing a large capacity ammunition magazine.
On Tuesday, August 11, 2020 JAMAL ROBINSON was arrested and charged with one count of Unlawful Possession Of A Handgun, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1), a 2nd degree crime; one count of A Certain Person Not To Possess A Handgun, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7B(1), a 2nd degree crime; and one count of Possession Of A Large Capacity Ammunition Magazine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3j, a 4th degree crime. He remains in the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ on the additional charges.
On Wednesday, August 12, 2020, DEIDRE A. ADEBIYI was arrested and charged with one count of Possession Of A Large Capacity Ammunition Magazine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3j, a 4th degree crime. She was served with a summons and is scheduled to appear in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
On August 13, 2020, DWAYNE REDD, JR. was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Capital Area Regional Task Force. He was remanded to the Baltimore County Detention Center in Baltimore, MD pending extradition.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the Englewood Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
