Paramus NJ, in a strange series of events on Sunday, September 1, a 32-year-old man from Canastota, N.Y., was arrested after breaking into a bank on Route 17 and then falsely reporting that he had been robbed at a nearby Dunkin Donuts.

Paramus police identified the man as Jonathan Gardner, who now faces multiple charges, including attempted burglary, causing a false public alarm, and possession of burglary tools.

The incident began when Gardner called the police, claiming he had been held at knifepoint and sustained a slash wound while defending himself in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot at 492 Route 17 North. Officers Matt Orefice and Kevin Grady quickly responded to the scene and began searching for the alleged attacker.

However, while investigating, the police received another call—this time, an alarm had been triggered at the Capitol One Bank located at 464 Route 17 North. Upon arrival, officers found the front door shattered, a hammer lying in the vestibule, and damage to the bank’s ATM.

A security officer at the bank provided a description of the suspect that matched Gardner. Officer Orefice later spotted Gardner at a nearby Shell Gas Station, under the hood of a 2012 black Mercedes Benz with fictitious Massachusetts license plates.

Gardner was promptly arrested and taken to Paramus Police headquarters for processing. He was charged with criminal attempt (burglary), possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief (two counts), and false public alarm (two counts). Despite the seriousness of the charges, Gardner was released on his own recognizance.

  1. He stoopid

  2. Continue to liberalize drug laws.

  3. He stabbed himself?

“Damage to the ATM”: did he get into the piggy bank or not? Whole thing was a total dud?

Some people need to watch more TV. There must be a thousand shows with cleverer ploys than this one.

Hercule Poirot would have known immediately that he was lying, because the stores are not called Dunkin’ Donuts any more–just Dunkin’. MYSTERY SOLVED!!!!

(ignore the URL, which hasn’t changed, and look at the home page:)
