Traffic Alert and Safety Precautions for the Memorial Day Run
On Monday 5/27/13 the Police Department will close roads on the east side of town at 8:00am for the 38th annual Memorial Day Run. The run zone encompasses the area between North Maple Ave and Pleasant Ave closing all major east to west roadways in-between, including E.Glen Ave, Linwood Ave and East Ridgewood Ave. No parking signs will be posted along the entire race route and any vehicle parked along the route will be towed prior to the start of the race. To avoid being stuck in traffic when the roads are closed utilize Franklin Turnpike or Grove street to pass through town. If you live in the run zone and need to leave your house we recommend moving your vehicle outside the run zone prior to the start of the race. Some of the roads will be reopened by 10:00 am with all roads being reopened by 2:00pm.
Security at the race this year will be enhanced. All participants are encouraged to leave any purses, bags, backpacks, etc. at home. If you must bring personal items, please check them at the Baggage Tent next to the baseball backstop. No bags will be permitted along the race course or near the finish line. All containers and bags will be subject to search.
