A new traffic pattern proposed for Ridge School has earned the support of several village officials and professionals, but parents and school safety representatives suggest the change will do more harm than good.
The Ridgewood Council will consider an ordinance next month that, if approved, will prohibit left turns from eastbound West Ridgewood Avenue into the Ridge School driveway. The ordinance would make the turn illegal during the peak student drop-off and pick-up hours, from 8 to 9 a.m. and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on school days.
Parents have called for traffic changes because current conditions have become too dangerous for students and all motorists. In addition, many parents have complained about the number of traffic tickets issued by the Ridgewood Police Department.
Time for the cry baby parents to stop being so whiny.
The same pattern is used at other schools. It works. Get overself and get in line, or walk to school.
here’s an idea, WALK TO SCHOOL!
I love Walk to School Month — no lines when I roll up in my SUV.
These inconsiderate drivers should be ticketed and towed. New problem= Hillcrest road. What was supposed to be a horse farm is now another mud-hole soccer field. On Sunday afternoon, it was impossible for 2 lanes of traffic to pass since these inconsiderate parents parked on both sides of the road. Where the heck is the RPD??
#5 are there signs prohiniting parking on either side ? If not what can the cops do? there is a similar problem on north murray, no ordinance, no sign, no authority.
