Tragic Accident Claims Woman’s Life on Route 17 in Paramus

Paramus Nj, a woman lost her life early Saturday morning after being struck twice while attempting to cross Route 17 on foot in Paramus, according to local authorities.

Paramus Police received a call around 3:30 a.m. reporting the incident near Wendy’s on Route 17. The victim was initially hit by a car, followed by a truck, as she tried to cross the busy highway.

Police say the woman had successfully crossed the northbound lanes and made it over the median. However, as she attempted to cross the southbound lanes, she was hit by a white Kia driven by a 42-year-old man. Moments later, a tractor-trailer driven by a 65-year-old man also struck her.

Authorities, including the Paramus Police Crash Investigation Unit, Paramus Detectives, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.

This devastating event serves as a reminder of the dangers of crossing busy highways on foot, especially during early morning hours when visibility is low.
