Ridgewood NJ, one of our staff members just checked this out. The trees that have been removed are along the sidewalk on the North Van Dien Avenue side of the hospital, from Kurth Cottage north to the driveway entrance of Ben Franklin Middle School. It looks like there could have been 35 to 40 trees; they were relatively small, ornamental trees based on size of the stumps left behind.

An employee who did not wish to be identified indicated that the trees were removed because many of them were diseased, and the maintenance department was concerned about what might happen to them this winter. The stumps are scheduled to be removed, and after that more trees and shrubbery will be placed in the now vacant locations.

  1. We have noticed that they’re doing minor construction by the Earth cottage. Anyone know what they’re doing?
