Trout Season Has Officially Arrived

Ridgewood NJ, the pre-season catch-and-release period for trout closes today, Friday, April 9, at 11:59 p.m. with the traditional season opening tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. To reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, this year’s initial trout stocking began March 15 with waters opening on April 1 for the catch-and-release period. Stocking continued for four weeks and concluded Friday.

From April 10 at 8:00 a.m. to May 31, the minimum legal catch size is 9 inches, with a daily limit of six trout in most trout waters. Beginning June 1 the daily limit will drop to four trout.
There will be limited stocking of select waters the week of May 10.

  1. Just don’t eat tunafish, because there’s no guarantee that they can keep dolphin out of the tuna. Don’t let anybody bullshit you.
