Ridgewood Heat Alert: Garbage, Recycling, and Yard Waste Schedules Shift to Early Morning
the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, The Village of Ridgewood is preparing for a major spike in temperatures. In an effort to protect local municipal workers from extreme heat conditions, town officials have announced an emergency scheduling shift for all sanitation and recycling collection routes.
If you live in the affected zones, you will need to adjust your routine this evening to ensure your waste is picked up.
Which Ridgewood Neighborhoods Are Affected?
Due to the high temperatures forecast for Tuesday, May 19, Village of Ridgewood crews will be hitting the road much earlier than their standard start times.
The early morning schedule change applies directly to the following services:
-
Eastside Garbage Collection
-
Area 2 Recycling Collection
-
Area B Yard Waste Collection
Because trucks will be moving through neighborhoods ahead of schedule, waiting until Tuesday morning to put out your bins means you will likely miss the pickup entirely.
What Residents Need to Do Tonight
To keep the neighborhood clean and ensure your household waste is successfully collected, town management is asking for full community cooperation.
Action Required: Please place all garbage, Area 2 recycling, and Area B yard waste curbside this evening after 5:00 PM.
By setting your materials out the night before, Ridgewood crews can efficiently complete their routes during the cooler early morning hours, keeping workers safe from heat exhaustion and heat-related illnesses during the peak of the afternoon sun.
Stay cool, check on your neighbors, and make sure your bins are out early!

I’ve lost track of the number of living saints in Ridgewood. What a time to be alive.
why do i have to get this important information from the blog?
Why doesn’t the town send out a text or email?
I got an email — maybe you should sign up?

i signed up years ago,. the only communication i receive are the friday fluff pieces. maybe someone in village hall can find a middle school student to show them how to properly manage a list
They knocked on my door. I can’t argue with that kind of service.
I’ll be bringing my garbage can to the car for the rest of the summer, make it easy for the crew, I love my neighbors name, Mike garbage can, I don’t know why they’re complaining. Because they have to bring out their recycling cans, and their yard waste, and every other week is clean up, something doesn’t make sense. It’s only a can, you don’t know what’s inside of it if there’s a cover over it right think about it.
