Ridgewood NJ, it is being reported from various sources that two (2) individuals, an adult man and woman, were reportedly arrested for trespassing at Ridge School this morning. Both were taken away in handcuffs to Ridgewood police headquarters for processing. Several marked and unmarked Ridgewood police vehicles were observed stationed in the driveway of Ridge shortly after 9:00 am. It is not known whether the individuals were trespassing inside or outside of the building when they were apprehended.
UPDATE: The individuals taken into custody by the police posed no threat to either staff or students. They were arrested by Ridgewood police officers when they refused to leave the school premises after being asked to do so. Police were summoned to the scene by school officials.

If they had no legitimate reason to be on the premises and refused to leave, then the charge of trespassing is correct.

Two adults refusing to leave school grounds is a big deal. What’s wrong with them? These things can escalate. The adults should be banned from school property and be flagged for weapons ownership.
Laurie – who are you to recommend a journalism class to Mr Loving? The story was factual. You do not represent Ridgewood schools or Ridgewood residents. You do not need to minimize the unpleasant things that happen.

For anyone who was not on the school email list this was a domestic situation. Likely a divorce where an-ex attempted to attend the 5th grade graduation. The situation appears to have been handled perfectly by the school and the police and demonstrate that our security protocols work. There is nothing in this story to justify any additional security.
I was driving past and saw all the police cars. I was on my way to the gym. I do not have children, but I was terrified. It was a big relief to learn that it was a dispute between a couple. How would I have known this if it hadn’t been posted? Seems like the people who have children in school believe they are in a separate society and get to have exclusive information. Nope. We all have a right to know.
Everyone should chill out and think of the children involved.
Back off, if you’re not part of the situation then you don’t need to add speculation or gossip.
Just imagine being the child whose parents are arrested in front of the school because the adults in their life can’t act like responsible adults with only the best interests of their children at heart…. then close your mouth, stop typing and hug your own kids and thank your parents!
