“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter the words, but to live by them.”

Twp. of Washington NJ, We would like to express our gratitude to those members of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. May their sacrifice be a reminder of what matters most in our lives. Many Americans honor those sacrifices by celebrating the things that make this country great.
There are a variety of ways to observe Memorial Day, including:
Purchasing a red poppy to wear. All poppies are handmade by veterans as part of their therapeutic rehabilitation process and proceeds go to support the work of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in assisting disabled and hospitalized veterans in our communities.
Flying your flag at half-staff until noon, then raising it to the top of the staff until sunset.
Participating in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, to pause for a duration of one minute to remember those who have died in military service to the United States.
Visiting a Veterans memorial and placing flags and flowers on the graves.
Attending Washington Township’s Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 31, 2021 at 10am
Donating to one of the many organizations that support veterans and families of combat-wounded or fallen veterans.
Our deepest gratitude goes to the fallen men and women who gave us a chance to make the world a better place. We are forever grateful for their service to our country and our people.
In recognition, appreciation and remembrance of our service members, Happy Memorial Day.
Go Township!
