Twp. of Washington NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of a 17-year-old JUVENILE from Washington Township, NJ, on charges of Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Endangering An Injured Victim, Leaving The Scene Of A Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury, and Assault By Auto. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Washington Township Police Department under the direction of Chief Glenn Hooper.
On Monday, January 28, 2019, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that a serious assault had occurred in Washington Township, and that a motor vehicle was possibly used as a weapon. The investigation revealed that the 16-year-old victim was selling narcotics to a JUVENILE, who intended to take the narcotics without paying the victim. A fight ensued, at which time the JUVENILE drove away from the location with the victim hanging onto the outside of his vehicle. The victim subsequently fell off of the moving vehicle, suffering serious bodily injury. The JUVENILE then fled the scene without reporting the incident to police. The victim was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he is currently listed in stable condition.
On Wednesday, January 30, 2019, the JUVENILE was charged with acts of juvenile delinquency based on allegations of Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Endangering An Injured Victim, Leaving The Scene Of A Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury, and Assault By Auto. The JUVENILE will appear before the Family Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the juvenile is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Washington Township Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
James ,
Whoever you are ? ! Before, you publish articles -please make sure you get your FACTS straight ! There was never NO sale of drugs what so ever found !! All of this was ALLEGED -NOT FACTS ! ..AS a result of YOUR article . THE VICTIM has NOT been able to return to PARAMUS CATHOLIC .. AN HONOR student who was ROBBED for $60.00…HE DID NOT hang on to the CAR ..the driver PINNED his arm and rolled the window -THE DRIVER WAS HIGH and thought it was funny to play CHICKEN WITH HIM .. THEY continued (THEY 2 BOYS) to beat him and call him RACIAL SLURS ..the prosecutor’s office is AWARE of this and the POLICE did not add it onto the REPORT! ..THEY THOUGHT the victim was going to die, so they QUICKLY TURNED the story around ..HOW DARE YOU WRITE THIS AS THE VICTIM and FAMILY are still suffering ! CONTACT ME AND I WILL SHOW YOU FACTS AND PICTURES..THE LEAD detective spoke to the 13 year sister behind the parents back -that means without PERMISSION and RAN with THIS BOOGUS STORY!!!! THATS A FACT! and you KNOW that is NO -THE YOUNGER SISTER WAS NOT a WITNESS TO THE CRIME !…SHE IS A CHILD AND WAS LOOKING FOR COMFORT -THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THAT !!! OK -FACT WRITE FIRST !
I am so angry to read this as this story is not true . The victim was seriously hurt and this article was made out to be as the victim was a drug dealer . You do not know the victim or the family ..the person who got hurt is a respectful young man who is an Honor Student, works, and volunteers . The victim was not holding on to the car . The boys who did this to the victim went to rob the victim . The prosecutor’s office has it wrong 🙁
Why is this posted on the Ridgewood Blog Site ? When my son DID not make a statement at the time of the press release ? To my understanding, the prosecutor did NOT even know what was happening YET…Why is this still here when my son was in a coma and had yet make a statement of any such yet …Where did you get your facts ?
At the time this was written my son was confined to the hospital , in a medical induced coma . The only true facts written here is the what the young MEN did to my son and the damages that will consist with him for the rest of his life and as a result of your article my son has been expelled from school …These kids should had been charged with the punishment that fits the crime !
If your son was indeed expelled from the school because of this tiny article based on a police report (true or not), then you have a great case to file a lawsuit against Paramus Catholic. Side note: Is anyone else troubled by all the grammatical errors in the three above posts?
It is possible for a person to have been an honor student and a drug dealer, or not a drug dealer at all. This is a sad story, one for the courts. North Jersey also carried the story:

You most certainly can be a drug dealer, honor student and overall great guy at the same time. If you don’t think so, please read “The Short and Tragic Life of Rob Peace: A Brilliant Young Man who Left Newark for the Ivy League.”
