Twp. of Washington NJ, Mayor Peter Calamari of Twp. of Washington  made the following statement on Facebook about DPW/PD/Charlie Browns proposals :

I would like to update everyone on the status and work being done with regard to the DPW/PD/Charlie Browns proposals.
Myself and Administrator Tovo are working with the architect on the cost estimates for the multiple proposals. We have also been working with our financial professionals regarding the projected financing.
This is a large potential project regardless of which direction it goes. Therefore we are taking the necessary time to ensure the facts and figures are correct so we can engage in meaningful and productive dialogue once they are disseminated. In the meantime, as always, I encourage the residents’ continued feedback and input on these proposals as well as all town matters.
Thank you and have a great weekend!

  1. I wonder if the town owns any other property, All the properties that they cannot acquire. Unless maybe Ridgewood can acquire the Township of Washington.

  2. It’s hard to believe a home builder is not interested in this property. Something stinks!

  3. This is an example of more redundant municipality bureaucracies pushing out “highest and best use” in favor of cementing their power. The fact that a town of 9,000 people needs a separate DPW and all the overhead that entails is the epitome of waste and underscores why Bergen County is so expensive and out-of-reach for young people. If they cared about their taxpayers, they would work to outsource many of these services to private companies providing competitive bidding.

    1. Outsourcing, or contracting private companies, avoids legacy payments like pensions and lifetime medical benefits for public workers. It’s the intelligent thing to do, which means they won’t do it. Taxpayer funded pensions are bankrupting this state.
