Union City Man Picked Up Transporting Three Kilos of Cocaine Using a Hidden Compartment in His Vehicle

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MERVIN J. MENIER (DOB: 02/23/1993; single; unemployed) of 314 3rd Street, 2nd floor, Union City, NJ, on a charge of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On May 12, 2023, during a narcotics investigation, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle as it traveled through Bergen County, NJ. The investigation revealed that the driver, MERVIN J. MENIER, was transporting three kilograms of cocaine using a hidden compartment in the vehicle.

MERVIN J. MENIER was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(1). He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in this investigation.
