Ridgewood NJ, no need to save for retirement, the head of the United Nations climate agency has issued a stark warning, emphasizing that humanity has a narrow window of just two years to enact significant changes in its approach to emitting heat-trapping gases. This urgent call to action is compounded by the pressing need to secure the necessary financial resources to facilitate this monumental transition.

After 35 years of saying we’re all going to die in 10 years, they have decided to up the urgency . With the clock ticking towards a 2025 deadline for governments worldwide to implement stronger strategies for reducing carbon emissions, and with nearly half of the global population participating in elections this year, Simon Stiell, the executive secretary of the United Nations climate agency, stressed the critical importance of immediate action. Speaking at the Chatham House think tank in London, Stiell acknowledged that his message may seem alarmist, but he underscored its undeniable urgency.

According to Stiell, the next two years represent a pivotal opportunity to significantly decrease greenhouse gas emissions through the implementation of robust national climate plans. He emphasized that such plans are imperative and must be enacted without delay. Stiell also highlighted that climate action is not solely the responsibility of those in positions of power; rather, it requires collective effort from every individual on the planet.

In a veiled reference to the upcoming electoral cycle, Stiell emphasized that the imperative to address climate change transcends political boundaries and societal divisions. He noted that an increasing number of people, from diverse backgrounds and political affiliations, are advocating for climate action, driven by the tangible impacts of the climate crisis on their daily lives and financial well-being.

Ultimately, Stiell’s message serves as a clarion call for global cooperation and immediate action to confront the existential threat posed by climate change, underscoring the critical role that each individual must play in securing a sustainable future for our planet.

  1. I speak to you from the grave………………

I listened to Paul Ehrlich when he was on Johnny Carson in about 1969 when I was in undergrad.

Since I knew I was going to be dead by 1980 +/-, I saw no reason to stop smoking my pipe (as all new college guys did in those days) and maybe drank a wee bit more than I should have.

I am surprised at how much I got done in the intervening years despite the fact that I have apparently been dead for 44 years now………………………….

    1. Uh oh. We got one here who remembers things. Get rid of this guy before he corrupts the youth.

Also, cue the “you’re not a scientist!” NPCs. Don’t you know the science is settled, but it’s keeps evolving, but it’s settled even though it keeps evolving? You’re not a scientist so you’ll never understand why it’s necessary for real scientific geniuses (who are pure and perfectly objective, specimens a cut above the dingy dross of profane humanity) to manipulate data to fit the political conclusions of their donors. It’s science! Now you shut up and wear your mask.

  2. Hmm. I have a lot to check off my bucket list

  3. Maybe this guy is confused? Maybe he has 2years left in his position?

  4. The whole climate change narrative is nothing but a money grab, by those who stand to gain:
    1. Overseas oil producers who gain more market share. Remember when we were number one? Biden got in and cancelled drilling contracts. Lefties thought it was a great move to lower carbon emissions. Global oil production remained the same but the US now had to import more.
    2. Organized labor who will be employed to somehow protect us from the imaginary rising sea levels.
    3. Politically connected companies that engage in alternative energy production.

    1. A money grab? Well, the picked the right guy for the job. Simon Stiell? Or Simon Steal?
