The Record
The Valley Hospital has purchased 11 1/2 acres in Paramus across the street from its same-day surgery and outpatient cancer center on Winters Avenue, a spokeswoman said Friday.
Valley Hospital
The site, not far from Route 17 and the Fashion Center mall, has been the data-processing and software-development facility for the global package distributor, UPS.
The hospital has no immediate plans to use the property, said Megan Fraser, a spokeswoman. It will lease the land and buildings back to BT Property, from whom it was purchased, for three years.
Fraser declined to give the sales price.

They see the writing on the wall.

A logical purchase by Valley that allows them to build at a proper zone/location next to their other newer facilities. The Three year lease allows proper planning , this will hopefully end their inappropiate attempts to overdevelop at Van Dien
It was announced Friday…..
This purchase has been the hopper for over a year and the closing was on Thursday. It has nothing to do with the current expansion process that WILL proceed once a third party eyeballs all the crap the town and a few NIMBY’s think is going to stop progress. Your wrong.
The hospital will prevail and your going to have to move. Should have thought about all this when you purchased your home with a VERY LARGE BUILDING IN THE DISTANCE. THE END.
I will be happy to go to Paramus or Hackensack for healthcare.
That crazy valley doctor from Mahwah can calm down now.
I hope that they build the mall in Mahwah. It is for the greater good.
So, Valley officials have told us for 8 years that alternatives (e.g., split campus) to doubling in size on their current site were “not feasible”. Valley has continued to shove their expansion down our throats, and now, they are suing us when, all along, they most certainly had the resources to buy 11.5 acres nearby….just in case they lose their suit? They certainly CAN build everything they need in Paramus and stop alienating Ridgewood residents! But no, they will continue with their absurd litigation, hurting our town.
“Fraser declined to give the sales price.”
Earth to Ms. Fraser, Earth to Ms. Fraser – the purchase price must be reported to the local tax assessor’s office, at which time it must be made public. So the public will eventually find out what your organization paid.
The Valley paid:
$28 million for 1200 East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood
$5.75 million for 555 North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood
$4.8 million for 1 Linwood Avenue, West, Paramus
$6.1 million for 611 Valley Health Plaza, Paramus
$4.6 million for 1 Valley Health Plaza, Paramus
$11.2 million for 15 Essex Road, Paramus
The purchase price for 599 Valley Health Plaza (former home of the NJ Children’s Museum) has not yet been posted. That property last sold in 2012 for $13.5 million.
Hey # 8 with all that info out there valley continues to claim “non-profit charitable” tax status seems a little obscene, no?
#3-There you go sounding like a complete fool again. Simple question that even you could probably answer. If this purchase, on top of all the others, “has nothing to do with the current expansion process,” then why the hell would they do it ? Are they just playing Monopoly with real money, or what ? I know, “we have it, so let’s just spend it.”
Now granted, there have been times over the past several years where it really did look like Valley’s board was clueless, but do you think this is just another one of those times ? Business Plan ? Tell us, you seem to have the “in.”
Not bad for a Non-Profit!
Number 3 here….your right, I do have an “in” and it doesn’t include you….call your realtor and pack your bags….here’s a selling point for your property …..
“Close to excellent health care” ……REAL CLOSE….
talk in the back room valley will be out of ridgewood in three years and will be at the base camp at bergen pines. they have the land, the parking, the room, and close to all hi ways, the valley will be a cost town, o well.
Jimmy Tedesco has indicated the County will never sell that property.
#3—at least use proper grammar (your, um, IQ is showing). When you write, “your right”, I think you mean, “you’re right”. I don’t know about you, but I learned that in first grade. It seems your lousy grammar is commensurate with your lousy reasoning. (Oh, wondering about “commensurate”? Look it up.)
Valley Hospital is a huge liar. For 8 years we have heard that Valley couldn’t possibly build elsewhere, or relocate. Too expensive!! They have gone ahead a bought property anyway—nearly 59 million dollars worth, and this doesn’t count the 13+ million they spent in their newest purchase. Wasn’t the cost of their expansion estimated at 84 million? And they are suing Ridgewood?
What the hell?
Great news. When do they leave?
It’s amazing how the supporters can never answer basic questions.
I think #3 needs to go to the Mayor’s meeting on civility
The property on Winters Avenue is assessed at $17.5 million. BT Properties is a real estate division of United parcel service.
Did you ever wonder who is going to occupy the hospital space Valley is buying.
Are they predicting unhealthy lifestyles? A high percentage of hospital stays are due to that anyway.
Rutgers has a new foundation’; they study the Culture of Health; what lifestyle factors keep people out of the hospital.
Don’t let these thoughts spoil your Thanksgiving eating.
