Victim Suffers Multiple Gun Shoot Wounds in Home Invasion in Cresskill

Cresskill NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of AARON PERRY (DOB 7/19/1969) of Dunwoody, Georgia; ALI MUHAMMAD (DOB: 4/04/1989) of Atlanta, Georgia; KEDRAIN BURDETTE (DOB: 7/08/1971) of Marietta, Georgia; RODERICK CARMICHAEL (DOB: 1/03/1972) of Stockbridge, Georgia; and TAURUS SANCHEZ BOONE (DOB: 2/08/1981) of Atlanta, Georgia on charges related to an armed home invasion/attempted murder/shooting investigation in Cresskill, NJ. The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (“BCPO”) under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Cresskill Police Department (“CPD”) under the direction of Chief James Domville.

On Thursday, July 7, 2022 at approximately 8:06 pm, officers from the Cresskill Police Department responded to a reported home invasion/robbery/shooting at 10 Center Street, Cresskill, NJ involving multiple armed suspects wearing FBI raid jackets. Subsequently, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad also responded and initiated an investigation. A victim was identified and transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries due to multiple gunshot wounds sustained during the home invasion.

During an approximate five-months-long investigation by these two agencies, AARON PERRY, ALI MUHAMMAD, KEDRAIN BURDETTE, RODERICK CARMICHAEL and TAURUS SANCHEZ BOONE were identified as suspects.

On Tuesday, December 13, 2022, Special Agents from the FBI and Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office executed multiple search warrants and arrested PERRY, MUHAMMAD, BURDETTE, CARMICHAEL AND BOONE without incident. During the execution of the search warrants in Georgia, multiple handguns, long guns and ballistic armor were recovered.

AARON PERRY was charged with first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1a(1)/2C:11-3a(1); first degree kidnapping, N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b(1); first degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A 2C:15-1a(1); second degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1)/N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); third degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); second degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1); second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, 2C:39-4(a); and third degree theft of movable property, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3(a).

ALI MUHAMMAD was charged with first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1a(1)/2C:11-3a(1); first degree kidnapping, N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b(1); first degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A 2C:15-1a(1); second degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1)/N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); third degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); second degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1); second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, 2C:39-4(a); and third degree theft of movable property, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3(a).

KEDRAIN BURDETTE was charged with first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1a(1)/2C:11-3a(1); first degree kidnapping, N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b(1); first degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A 2C:15-1a(1); second degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1)/N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); third degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); second degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1); second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, 2C:39-4(a); and third degree theft of movable property, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3(a).

RODERICK CARMICHAEL was charged with first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1a(1)/2C:11-3a(1); first degree kidnapping, N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b(1); first degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A 2C:15-1a(1); second degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1)/N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); third degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); second degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1); second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, 2C:39-4(a); and third degree theft of movable property, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3(a).

TAURUS SANCHEZ BOONE was charged with first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1a(1)/2C:11-3a(1); first degree kidnapping, N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b(1); first degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A 2C:15-1a(1); second degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1)/N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); third degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); second degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1); second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, 2C:39-4(a); and third degree theft of movable property, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3(a).

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
