Ridgewood NJ, once again we turn to Councilmen Ramon Hache for an update on the Hudson Street Garage . In his recent new letter Hache stated that , “Following presentations from the four developers that responded to the Village’s RFP, the Village Council selected two of the four developers to continue negotiations. The negotiations began in March, with the goal of selecting a final proposal that balances the best fit, value, functionality, and design.”

The current council once again made a very smart decision designating the existing Hudson Street lot as an area in need of redevelopment in 2017. This has allowed them the opportunity to negotiate directly with the construction companies, instead of simply accepting or rejecting the bids. An additional benefit of the redevelopment zone designation is that the Village does not have to post the usual deposit for the bond which, for this project, could have been up to $600,000. The results of the negotiations will be discussed in Closed Session on April 11.

  1. What a crock for a garage we dont want nor need. Esp dont need to be on the hook for. We need to vote folks. They are wasting our tax dollars endlessly. Roads are crap

  2. Great, looks like the garage will be built.
Time to raise the meter rates and expand meter times.

  3. Janice Willet for Village Council Website:
“Let’s allow the garage to extend six feet beyond the footprint, as previous designs did, for a gain of at least 225 incremental spaces instead of just 165. And then let’s get the garage built.”
Alexandra Harwin at recent coffee: “new designs are teeny-tiny”
VOTE KNUDSEN and SEDON MAY 8th

  4. OR, we build NO garage and save a cool 12 mil.

  5. There is an ARTIFICIAL shortage of parking in Ridgewood. This has been created by a dark alliance, and some council members are part of this alliance.
Once the garage money is approved, this shortage will go away.

  6. Buy the Town Garage. Level it. No need to remediate if you don’t dig. Stripe it and let commuters park there! Resurface all municipal lots, stripe em and let’s put an end to this nonsense.

  7. 3:32 is 100 percent right

We have to stop this developers and VC COUP

    TAKE BACK OUR VILLAGE

NO GARAGE FOR DEVELOPERS GAIN AND OUR PAIN

  8. I do wish someway could be devised to determine if we really need a garage at all? Or if we build 2 separate parking decks in different areas of town? The only merchants who “May” benefit from the present location are the ones on that end of town. No one will go there who plans on dining or shopping in the lower part of Ridgewood. No one will make their employees leave their on-site parking and park in the garage to walk to work–thus leaving space open near their stores so that people can shop or dine. I’m sure the council must be hearing from the wanters but we wish they’d count how many are really for one against the large number that appears to be opposed.

  9. “Buy the Town Garage.” Sure spend money to buy it. Take it off the tax rolls. Repave it strip it and don’t forget lights Well Anon sound like another 12 mil project in the making.

  10. What an extreme waste of money – – what fools these council mortals be.

  11. Go to council meetings and tell them.
Email the council and tell them.
Harwin and Willlett are being propped up by Aronsohn and Co. – they want it all! Big Garage, big development, big taxes.
VOTE MAY 8th for Knudsen and Sedon and DO NOT LET THEM BACK IN!

  12. 3:32 is right. The town garage site added to the existing municipal lot is the way to go. Level the building, encapsulate the surface and re-stripe. That area is central to the entire CBD and not just the west side.

  13. Way to go 3:32 The most correct idea EVER!! There is plenty of parking available! What is wrong with this council. Do not Vote for the Willett and Harwin Aronson plants. Increase footprint??? This nightmare has to stop. I have been here for 71 years, loved everyday until all this CRAP started, mostly since all the big money people have arrived. Worst part is, the money husbands go to wall street and leave the wives home with nothing else to do( other then their nails) and get involved. Leave this parking problem alone There Is no problem.

  14. This garage has always been a solution in search of a problem
