Lipstick on a pig.
This place is going to be some moneypit. I don’t know was it really worth it, is this place that important. I understand all the history which is great.
Maybe we can use the windfall generated from Park Mobile to fund the roof project.
… Oh Wait….
.
Has anyone yet found out anything that is not just hearsay about that house? How much of it is original? If someone is doing a renovation (in this house it won’t be renovation but rebuilding), don’t they have to conform to handicap regulations if it is to be used by any members of the public? Has anyone actually looked at the cost of completely rebuilding that place? Isabella said it didn’t need to meet handicap specifications. Has anyone else looked at that regulation or are we just taking her word for it? I’m sure she knew what she was talking about but has anyone but her actually looked at the totality of that rule? I was told it was historic on the county list and that was all it needed for proof. if you actually read the County list, it states that the Schedler house is eligible to be researched to see if it actually is historic or merely mostly rebuilt years ago. if you’re going to rebuild it without investigating further you may just have a piece of junk upon which the council has wasted a fortune when bathrooms and protection from Rt 17N are far more important and will cost much much less money.
After looking at a tarp covering the roof for years now it’s going to be repaired? The powers that be are a joke.
The home is shot. Get the money from the George Washington fund.
I am not offering a personal opinion on the house, but there are two important things people should keep in mind about this issue:
First, Isabella is dead. And she died (fairly suddenly) having been disrespected and mistreated in relation to her research work on this house. She was a respected architect and planner and knew what she was talking about. She had the Bergen County Historical Society as well as one or two other organizations interested in partnerships. Her death and her treatment in this matter were both tragic.
Second, part of the problem, and it is a REALLY big part, is that many, many people (probably most people) who dismiss this whole issue have never actually gone there and even looked at it – neither its original proximity to the Old Paramus Church nor its modern day proximity to Rte. 17, which makes so many of the proposed recreational plans nothing short of preposterous.
Jane, to that point, I don’t understand why M and S and not listening to your suggestion of naming it after Isabella?
Who are they trying to please / who are they afraid of in doing what’s right.
7:48 That point needs continuous arguing and lobbying the Council. I can’t think of a more appropriate name for the place. Her family deserves for her to be recognized.
