Leaf Collection Update

Updated Information on Leaves from Ridgewood DPW:

• Collection: We are still running three to four days behind. With the recent damage to the pusher catching up is going to be unachievable.

• Schedule: We are recommending a shift in the leaf schedule based on the following new dates:

o Area A: Dec. 4 to Dec. 10

o Area B: No change

o Area C: Dec. 11 to Dec. 17

o Area D: Dec. 18 to Dec. 23

• Enforcement: There is no stopping enforcement at this point. For the remainder of this week enforcement will focus on Area B.

  1. “There is no stopping enforcement at this point.” What the F does that mean? The enforcement agent is running amok without the ability to stop her? Are you friggin’ kidding me?

  2. Can I issue a ticket to the village for missing the dates they provided to the various services? This can’t be a one way arrangement. I had leaves in front of my home for almost three weeks, two separate scheduled cycles were missed. Seems to me that the homeowners and landscapers have done all they can to meet a schedule that is continually changing. I had to call the landscaper back just to re-blow the leaves he already had placed in the street. Will the town re-emburse homeowners for that cost.

I do know that if I miss posted commitments in my field there are penalties

  3. “I do know that if I miss posted commitments in my field there are penalties”

Reminder: This is the government you’re talking to.

  4. Breath of fresh air Manager

  5. I like “unachievable.”

  6. 11:29 – save yourself some aggravation and bag the leaves then drop them off…….shouldn’t have to be like that but you’ll sleep better at night…

  7. Keep complaining and they will just rid this service, then you are up brown creek.

  8. RE: “Can I issue a ticket to the village for missing the dates they provided to the various services?”

Forget the ticket… I want to know if the “private contractor” got paid for three pick-ups when they never showed up for the 2nd one.

I know there is no way to recover on “services not provided” if it was Village employees doing the leaf pick-up, but why are we paying private contractors when they don’t provide services?

  9. My leaves went out this morning. Got the e notice in the afternoon. Can’t change the rules and issue tickets

  10. They need to stop the issuing tickets.I can under stand if they have to do that after the last round . we get it.
from what I see a lot of leaves fell the last two weeks .

  11. Nice job today in wastena park. Thanks
Ps. The loaders were still out late in the dark so they are doing thier best

  12. “Keep complaining and they will just rid this service, then you are up brown creek.” Thanks Mayor for that post.

  13. Don’t call it Wastena Park 5:56. The RBA will looking to put a 90 foot baseball field there.

  14. Is nothing Sacred in this former excellent town. Its like a broken record. We pay increased Taxes often town underperforms. Nature aside this is an increasing negative trend. When a group performs to standard expect a parade. Its all Dumbing down expectations. rot

  15. They should have purchased at least 2 of those single operator, joy stick controlled, truck mounted leaf vacuums years ago. But NOOOOO; Frank Moritz didn’t like them. H wanted to continue using the trailer mounted vacuums that require 3 men to efficiently operate and the noisy, sloppy front end loaders. If they had 2 of the single operator vacuum units, they could work both sides of the tracks for 2 shifts every weekday, with the primary focus being main arteries and around schools.

  16. The Village manager wants to have a “post mortem” meeting about the leaves. Maybe a little dramatic, unless it is accurately reflecting on the oh so short lifespan of a leaf. Much ado about nothing with threat of fines etc. Why not just be nice & pick up the leaves. Simple.

  17. what the hell is going on up in my section of town. In area ( b ) is a real mess. ever since they never replaced d p w workers who retired in
the past years they are under staffed. So the village hired out side contractors to help do some of the village,s work. but the work is not getting done. this is two years in a row that we are dealing with private out side contractors doing the leaves in area b , and it,s not working out . when the village staff did the work in the past we never had a problem.
from what I see the village is doing a much better job in all the other leaf area’s of town.
come on wake up mr mayor and council.

  18. NO ,we need to get the village staff back into the area, they did it real fast and good in the past. I’m on glenwood rd, well it’s a mess. my kids are on spencer and they had no problems this year. I don’t know who the contractor that is doing the leaves up in my area of town. the manager would like a meeting about picking up leaves, are you kidding all of us. it,s real dam simple go get the supervisor who is running the other leaf areas, And let him or her run this region of town so we can get the leaves up. I went for a ride and south of glen’av going down monroe is nice and clean. who ever is the village department of public works supervisor and the crew ,I SAY A BIG KUDOS TO THEM.

  19. In the past the leaf crews workerd saturday in the fall to get the leaves up.I seen in the past that they worked the black friday week end, and a few years ago even on a sunday. we loved it. the manager said the crews don’t work on saturdays because of the over time, what bull shit. I’m in town for 44years, I don’t mind if they work over time it’s my taxes at work. If it snowed they would be working over time right, And then they would have to push back the leaves off the road, RIGHT, RIGHT,

  20. out side contractor is one big back fire agin, for the second year in a row. are we going for a third in 2016. I hope not.

no wonder we need a new mayor and council.

  21. Yes 5;33 , I do agree with you, I’m on upper blvd and it took contractor jersey inc, all day to clean up my block.wow. talk about being very slow. SO yes in bringing over the leaf supervisor of the d p w to my sector to pick up the leaves with the village crew. at least we know the work will get done. my family has been on the west side of town for over 50years now, this past two years have been sloppy , slow and not efficient at all.the village would like to have a meeting with us on the west side of town, well ok I would love to invite that supervisor out for a dinner and pick his brain . because clearly he knows how to run a work crew on a daily basis.I think the mayor and council need to recognize his knowledge of the job.
    thank you
    yours truly
    Dr, GEN VEEN

  22. THATS IT. next year use the village workers and have them work week ends like all other towns around. we are all lucky that we have temp,s around 50,s and 60,s in dec , just remember it’s winter time , we could have a foot of snow by now. if the village needs to hire more workers , so be it. we are replacing workers in the fire and police spot’s. it;s time to replace in the d p w. and don’t come up with no money, thats bull shit.
    thank u .

  23. OBOY ; WHAT WOULD THE TOP DOGS DO IF WE GOT A BIG SNOW STORM, THEY WILL BE ALL DONE. once agin they got lucky with the dice.

  24. I love leaves.

  25. no snow
