Ridgewood NJ , according to Village of Ridgewood Mayor Ramon M Hache , “We were notified earlier today by Stop and Shop that they will be running our of paper bags by the weekend due to the increased volume of shoppers during this pandemic emergency. Unfortunately there is a national shortage of paper bags and it is unclear as to when their stock of paper will be replenished. Stop and Shop will have to temporarily switch to plastic until such time their bag supply is replenished. The Village will work with them and suspend enforcement of the plastic bag ban given the unprecedented circumstances. We encourage shoppers to use reusable bags whenever possible.”
Nanny State
Thank god. I’ve been saying since day one that this was a terrible ordinance. And now studies are showing that reusable bags are helping to accelerate the spread of the virus since most people don’t actually clean or disinfect their bags but rather chuck them back in the car immediately after use.
And the increase in paper will lead to more deforestation. Just use plastic and recycle it.
Mother May I use plastic bags during a health crisis.
Yes You May.
Buy what about the left-handed polar bears?
Just goes to show you how the original law (ban) was just feel-good virtue signaling with no real value…

The plastic bag ban is a perfect example of government doing many things, none of them well.
“Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.” – Thomas Paine
The problem are you sure people can go back to work are they safe for them to go not get sick . I understand people need maney to survive . Government can’t support all off them to pay rent, morgage, food shelter and have family to look for before you decide make sure we are safe to go back to work before you anything people will blame the government if something happened .
Make sure you disinfect the plastic bags before you bring in the house. Virus stays longest on Plastic and hard surfaces . Lots of hands in store handle the plastic bags.
Recommended by doctors : remove bags, disinfect hands.
Please dont encourage people to bring reusable bags into the stores at this time.
