Washington Township Police : Information Regarding Black Bear Seen Throughout the Township

Twp. of Washington NJ, Twp. of Washington Police department off the following information regarding black bear seen throughout the township :
The Washington Township Police have been in consistent contact with the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife Bureau of Wildlife Management regarding the black bear that has been in town.
At this time, the bear’s behavior classify it as a “Category III Bear” and the protocols for handling a Category III Black Bear do not include trapping or relocating.
Please report bear sightings and the bear’s behavior to the Police Dept. so they may continue to monitor the animal’s location and habits.
